As we wrap up the last week of May 2026, here are a few important things happening around the world and the Pacific:
NOAA released forecasts showing an active Pacific hurricane season this year due to developing El NiΓ±o conditions. Pacific island communities are encouraged to stay prepared and informed. ([The Guardian][1])
Scientists are also monitoring unusual warming across large parts of the Pacific Ocean, which could affect weather patterns, marine life, and island communities throughout 2026. ([The Guardian][2])
This week, Americans also observed Memorial Day, honoring the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.
As we head into June, letβs continue supporting one another, staying prepared, and building stronger communities across the Pacific and beyond.
