It’s getting close to garlic harvest time at the farm.
Elephant garlic will grow a single scape up the center of the leaves. These need to be broken off to allow the garlic bulb to grow larger. We just broke off the scapes on the majority of our garlic.
These scapes are great when cooked like asparagus. They can be used in the place of green onion or scallions. If anybody wants some just let us know. We have so many scapes, we will give those away for free. If you'd like to make a donation to support the chickens, that would be great. Otherwise just pick up some scapes and give them a try.
The garlic bulbs will be available next month for purchase, elephant or music varieties. Our garlic is grown by using only neem oil, as a natural bug repellent.
The majority of retail garlic is not grown in the USA and is bleach treated to some degree. If you want local naturally grown garlic keep an eye out for our harvest.
Our garlic can also be used for seed stock. If you want to grow your own, we can ship within the continental United States. Just follow us for availability.
