Wilkommen to Norfolk, AIDAdiva! 🇩🇪🛳️

Today, we welcomed AIDAdiva to Norfolk as the ship makes a stop on its 10-night cruise exploring the beauty of the Northeast and Canada!

The journey began in New York City and has included stops in Newport, Rhode Island; Saint John, New Brunswick; Portland, Maine; and Boston, Massachusetts.

Today’s stop: Norfolk, Virginia! Guests had the opportunity to explore our waterfront, discover local attractions, experience our history, and enjoy the charm of our coastal city before the voyage continues to Baltimore and back to New York.

We’re proud to welcome international visitors and show them why Norfolk is a destination worth discovering. 💙

We’re giving a huge shoutout to the City of Norfolk Government General Services Team, the unsung heroes who keep things running behind the scenes and respond to a wide range of maintenance and repair needs across the city, often 24/7. 🧰

For the past 18 months of homeporting Carnival Sunshine, this incredible team has been there to support Norfolk’s Cruise Terminal every step of the way.

From last winter’s snow to this summer’s sold-out cruise days, they’ve helped tackle challenges big and small and they’re always looking for ways to enhance the terminal and create a positive experience for our cruise guests.

A special thank-you to Jacob, Mo, Tyller, Chad, Paul, Gary & Shawn for being such a dependable part of the Cruise Norfolk team. 👏

Kudos to the entire General Services Team! We appreciate everything you do to help keep Norfolk moving and our cruise terminal shining.

Passengers traveling Sunday to/from the cruise terminal should be aware of WESTBOUND lane closures planned for the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel. Please plan accordingly to avoid delays in your route.

Heads up Hampton Roads travelers! It's weekend 2 of 4 of HRBT paving: The Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel will fully close westbound toward Hampton from 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, through 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 12, for continued westbound paving.

The return of Carnival Sunshine to Norfolk has been adjusted. The ship is now expected to return to Norfolk on Monday, September 28, rather than Sunday, September 27.

Cruise Norfolk will continue to monitor the ship’s schedule and provide updates as additional information becomes available.

Guests should continue to monitor official communications from Carnival Cruise Line for the latest information regarding their sailing and itinerary.

Due to local weather conditions, Mein Schiff’s scheduled port call this Friday, September 25, has been canceled.

Nauticus will be closed today, Thursday, September 24.

At this time, Nauticus plans to reopen Friday, September 25, and Mein Schiff is tentatively scheduled to visit Norfolk next Wednesday, September 30.

We’ll share additional updates here as we continue to monitor the weather.

Today was a great opportunity to welcome students from Old Dominion University School of Supply Chain, Logistics & Maritime Operations and the The Propeller Club of the United States, Port of Old Dominion University aboard Carnival Sunshine for an engaging tour and firsthand look at the maritime industry.

During the visit, students toured key areas across the operation, gaining a closer understanding of how the many pieces of the cruise logistics ecosystem come together.

Experiences like these are invaluable. The maritime industry is evolving rapidly, and developing the next generation of maritime professionals requires more than classroom learning. It takes exposure, mentorship, hands-on experiences, and meaningful connections with industry professionals.

We are proud to partner with Carnival Cruise Line to support students who are preparing to become the next generation of leaders in maritime, supply chain, logistics, and transportation.

The future of our industry depends on the talent we develop today. ⚓🌎
