Max Westheimer Airport

Max Westheimer Airport Westheimer Airport is a general aviation reliever airport serving the Norman and OKC areas. The ODPS bases ten aircraft and three helicopters at the airport.

For over 75 years, Oklahoma University has provided flight training as part of its curriculum. The AABI-accredited program offers degrees in air traffic control, aviation management, and pilot training. By supporting this University and its flight training activities, the airport plays an important role in training tomorrow's aviation professionals. Several state law enforcement agencies are locat

ed at Max Westheimer Airport. These aircraft are used for routine highway patrol, accident investigations, and flying search and rescue missions. OBNDD operates two helicopters and one fixed-wing aircraft to conduct investigations to support the U.S. DEA.

On Saturday April 25th, AAAE - Sooner Chapter and Airport Operations conducted a FOD walk on the South Ramp. The students took the opportunity to learn and ask about our current tower and runway projects.

Huge thank you to these students for their help at Max Westheimer Airport!

It’s been a busy and productive day at OUN. The following areas are now OPEN: Runway 18/36, Taxiways Charlie, Delta, Echo, and the Main terminal ramp.

A good portion of the airfield will remain CLOSED until Mother Nature helps with additional snow melt. Our crews focused today on critical ramp areas to begin restoring access for our based tenants. There is still a lot of work ahead, and many hangars remain snowed in.

If you are planning to fly, please use caution. As always, please continue to check NOTAMs for the latest updates.

Thank you for your patience and in the meantime enjoy this cool photo of the airport sunset.

The main terminal ramp is now OPEN. All runways remain CLOSED at this time; however, the airport is open to helicopter and medical (MediFlight) helicopter traffic.

We anticipate Runway 18/36 and Taxiways Charlie, Delta, and Echo will be open within the next couple of hours, conditions permitting.

We want to sincerely thank everyone for your patience over the last three days. The primary challenge has been an excessive amount of snow within the movement areas, resulting in large snowbanks and mounds that had to be removed before the airfield could safely reopen.

Please continue to monitor NOTAMs for the latest operational updates. We appreciate your continued understanding and support.
