On Friday August 28th, U.S. Senator Cory Booker concluded his annual 21-County Tour with a visit to the Cape May-Lewes Ferry! ⛴️

After receiving a tour of the MV New Jersey and terminal grounds as well as a visit to the gift shop, Senator Booker had the opportunity to discuss the importance of the ferry service to New Jersey’s economy as well as the latest updates on the new ferry under construction with Heath Gehrke (Director of Ferry Operations) and Joel Coppadge (Executive Director of the Delaware River and Bay Authority). Senator Booker also announced the award of a second Federal Transit Administration grant of $30 million towards the construction of another diesel-hybrid ferry. This grant award is critical toward our efforts to modernize our fleet with cleaner, more efficient diesel hybrid technology for the next generation. Beyond the environmental benefits, this investment safeguards an essential engine that drives more than $250 million in annual tourism and economic activity to the region.

Thank you, Senator Booker, for your dedicated advocacy on behalf of the DRBA and the thousands of travelers who depend on our crossing every day.
