Would you? I’m so curious!
I definitely would. I enjoy keeping to myself and watching these equine athletes behind the “scenes” 🎬
Would you still barrel race if nobody could see it?
No Facebook posts.
No livestreams.
No professional pictures to post afterward.
Nobody knowing what you won, where you placed, what division you landed in, or who you outran.
No followers. No likes. No recognition.
Just you, your horse, the entry fee and the run.
Would you still haul the same miles? Put in the same work? Spend the same money? Be just as excited when you pulled into the grounds?
Social media has done some really cool things for our sport. It’s helped riders build businesses, promote horses, attract sponsors and share moments with people who otherwise would never see them.
But I do think it’s an interesting question:
How much of what we do is because we genuinely love doing it—and how much becomes about making sure everyone else sees us doing it?
If barrel racing suddenly became completely invisible tomorrow…
Would you love it exactly the same?
