Finally we are home and have had some time to catch up and relax. We ran into some hiccups with leaving the house alone for 6+ weeks but it seems everything is going back to normal. The trip has been a big eye opener into many different cultures and cities. We are both changed since going through this adventure and have a little different outlook on life. Every trip I take I always learn more and more about others and simpler ways to live. We went into this trip having many questions and worries of what it would be like. We pushed each other to the edge a few times, but we both managed to power through and make it through a trip of a life time. We went all the way around the world in about 6 weeks and explored 3 continents. I added my 48th state to the list and got to explore my dream destination of Japan. Madison got to add many new places to her list. Her #1 goal was to see the Kiss painting in person which we accomplished in Vienna. We both went into Asia with having absolutely no idea if it would be challenging or easy. We went in absolutely blind and made it into something truly special. China, which we were not originally planning on doing turned into being one of the most memorable parts of the trip. From the forbidden city to the great wall and even meeting a new friend. It was a blessing it worked out the way it did. China also had the best food out of every where we have been to. That Pekin duck skin just absolutely melted in your mouth. Hell we even tried a duck foot(yuck). It all added to the special memories that we made together. Madison added a new favorite food of hers Gyozas which she says were life changing. Haha I guess we know what Ill be eating once she figures how to make those. This trip was truly a “plan as we go” and it could not have worked out any better. To end the trip sitting on a beach to looking at 6 inches of snow out our window was the most depressing part. Now time to get back to normal life and rebuild. No idea when we will be traveling next we just have to see where life ends up taking us. Thanks for following along everyone!

Yesterday was officially the last full day of the trip. It started out by a 3am alarm to wake up and roll. We got ready and ordered an uber to take us to the airport. We were officially the first people to arrive at the airport for the day. Our flight was for 6am and we didn’t want to be late as there was a lot planned. There were about 20 people on this flight which was crazy. It was so empty but that made it pretty cool. Our flight was a total of 28 minutes. Upon arrived we met our tour guide for the day Nin. Home boy was awesome. Just a big ole Hawaiian dude. We expected this tour to be with other people but nope it was just us and Nin. Our first stop of the day was a coffee shop and then it was off the Volcanoes national park! This park has always been a dream to visit. We missed the active volcano eruptions by a week but hey we still got the be right the at the volcano!! This made Madisons national park list hilarious. She’s been to two of the hardest parks to get to. Dry Tortugas and Hawaii Volcanoes before many other easy and close ones. Our first stop in the national park was an old lava field that you could walk around and explore on. There was a little cove that was a tree at one point that provided a little hut. I was able to add 2 endemic Hawaiian bird species to the list at this site. Then it was time to head to a lava cave. This occurs when lava flows and hardens externally but still moves in the core. This one was a lot larger than the one we did at Mt Etna, but equally as cool. We birded for a little bit there before heading to the steam vents and to over look the inside of Kilauea the volcano. It left us and awe and again was amazing to witness such a beautiful thing. There were signs everywhere to watch out for the Nene goose. Now I made it known that I would love to see one of these birds. In all of the regular spots in this park there were none. It was looking like a real bust but we were not giving up. I was unable to locate a I’iwi which is a really neat red bird endemic to Hawaii found at higher elevations. We explored so more of Hawaii Volcanoes NP before heading to the famous Rainbow Falls. It was neat to see a big waterfall on this trip and added some cool factors. From there we got some lunch at a nice Mexican spot in town. After lunch we went park hopping where I finally was able to locate a Nene. This made my whole day and I was so happy to see this endemic bird that is actually Hawaiis state bird. Our next stop was Black sand beach which was formed by Lava rock being crushed apart and washing back up from the ocean. Our favorite part of the day was coming up and I was starting to get really excited. Then boom, I get a text stating that our helicopter tour will be cancelled due to weather. Now this was a load of BS as the weather was absolutely beautiful. I mean couldn’t really be any better. I was very bummed to hear about this. Thankfully the tour company was able to bump our flights up and refund a surprising amount of money to me. They really righted this wrong in the best way possible. Now instead of our 1855 flight we were leaving at 1525. This worked out as we would get to spend a lot more time in Waikiki before leaving. Everything went great on the return flight. Once back we went to a grilled cheese place that Madison has been absolutely dying to eat at. It was worth the hype for sure. The prices weren’t terrible for Waikiki which was a shocker for me. We wandered around the rest of the night before heading back to catch up on some much needed sleep.

With this morning being crazy early I did not type a post up last night. Yesterday we woke up at a decent time to be at the rental car place by 830. We grabbed some donuts on the way to get our day started off strong. Good thing we got to the rental car place as they were overbooked. They didn’t have the car that I ordered but the they had a Jeep Wrangler for us. It was between that and a Gladiator. I never thought Id be caught driving a jeep but we had no choice on this matter. The jeeps were $70 more to rent and it was no additional cost for us. We were just glad to get a vehicle. I have no idea what a few people behind us had to do. From the we headed towards our destination of today of James Campbell NWR. On the way up there we passed by the Dole Plantation. If youre passing by and have the time why wouldn’t you stop. So thats just what we did. We stopped, browsed around a bit and enjoyed a bowl of Dole whip. Things here are so expensive but still no regrets on ending our trip this way. From Dole we passed by a small town just outside of the North Shore. My gos did I fall in love. This little town had so much going on. Some beautiful waves to surf, motocross track, skatepark, and many more things we would enjoy. At this point we only had a little time to look at the beach as our time slot for the NWR was approaching. The NWR is closed to the public but offers bird specific tours every Saturday from October to February. We got lucky to be able to get a slot on the tour to be able to see some Hawaiian specialty wetland birds. This is one of the very few wetlands on Oahu. With 1% being wetland/marsh land. Upon arrival we saw Bristle Thighed Curlew(lifer) and many Hawaiian Coots. There were lots of birds we saw today that were new and unique. We even got to experience a very close Laysan Albatross flyover. There were many Albatrosses flying around which was so cool to see. My favorite birds and types of birding is offshore pelagic species. To see some of these species from land at their breeding ground is so cool. Theres many more I would love to see and hope to have the time for at some point. The walk was very informative with many rare species seen. It’s cool that this refuge is tour only so they can keep track of all the habitats and animals. We got to see a few mongooses yesterday which they are working to eradicate. After our tour we decided to drive back the way we can to stop at some food trucks and hang out by the beach. We did just that and enjoyed the rest of our sunlight there. We got burgers with fried onion and pineapple. It was then time to head back to the city to drop off the rental car and get some early sleep.

Another almost tragic day turned into success. Today our goals were to rent a motorcycle, check out Lanai point, go zip-lining, and then watch fireworks. We woke up and walked over to the motorcycle rental place and got on our steed for the day. I set Lanai lookout in the gps to see some beautiful ocean views. Beautiful was the perfect word because man was that just awesome. Sadly I cut time too close and we could not stick around for long before needing to leave for Kualoa ranch. At Kualoa ranch I had zip-lining planned for us. Upon arrival I looked closer at the booking and realized somehow I made it for yesterday despite making the reservation yesterday. What an f up. I talked around and it looked like we would have no hope without booking a new session. Somehow my dude CJ saw something in me and talked to the manager and got me in. I don’t know how he did it and I was unable to find him and thank him. That phone call when I thought all hope was lost was amazing. We just had to wait an extra hour for said open slot. So instead of 11 it would be at 12. This zip-lining adventure was awesome and we got to go through so many Hollywood movie sets. I couldn’t believe the amount of things that were filmed here. From Kong to Jurassic park to Starships music video by Nicki Minaj. It was truly a sight to hold. The zip-lining trip was just as cool as the movie sets. This park is truly something special and I am blessed that we got the opportunity to experience all of this. Thanks so much to CJ. On this zip-line tour one of our guides Se-e is a native Hawaiian that really took a liking to our story and we told him many stories along the way. From there we hopped on the bike and took a different route back to Waikiki. This time going through the mountains instead of the coast. It was a beautiful ride up until we hit the main city. The roads were packed with traffic and 6 miles took us around 45 minutes. It was a good thing we left enough time to account for this. It was a really fun adventure and the bike was the icing on the cake. We returned the bike and changed before going out to eat and watch the sunset. We decided on going with seafood for dinner a decision we do not regret. I got Mahi mahi with rice and potatoes while Madison got shrimp fajitas. I was so glad to be able to eat some seafood prepared like that now that we are back in the states. Then it came time for sunset. The sunset was peaceful and we even got to see a seal! That was a huge added bonus. Now came time to walk to see the fireworks. This was a really short show and we were very glad to not get on a $79 boat tour. These fireworks lasted all of 5 minutes. We got great happiness just watching from ashore. There was a rowdy disrespectful group there that was high out of their minds. With families all around it wasn’t right. On the walk back we even got to witness two drunk dudes fighting. The old dude in the truck started it and safe to say he did not end it. That was a scary way to end our day and made us realize how quick things can change. Again, there’s families all around which is the scary part.

Today was an early morning that led to a very busy day. We started by trying out the convenience store for breakfast as the donut shop was expensive. Turns out everything is just expensive and we are going to have to deal with it while here. From breakfast we boarded the bus and shot right to the marina. There we boarded a boat to go snorkeling at turtle canyon. They say it’s guaranteed to see turtles. It turns out we arrived on a really good day as the weather the day before was windy and rainy overnight. They had to cancel all tours the day before. It was a great experience to swim up close with turtles and beautiful fish. Each time we snorkel it has been amazing. Madison actually managed to stay out for a long time which was awesome. Normally shes afraid of the sharks, but the tour guide says hes never seen a shark out there and he does that tour 3x a day. She went in a little early and may have gotten sick. To be fair the water was very choppy and the still bust moved a lot as well as constantly fighting the current while swimming. We were both beat, but that was just the start of the day. After snorkeling we shot to the hotel to quick shower and change for our next stop. The earliest I could get a slot at pearl harbor was 1445 so we had time to do other activities. You have to book this tour the day before and it sells out quick. Pearl Harbor was sad and displayed another side of the story not mentioned while in Japan. Truly makes you understand that theres two sides to every story. To be honest I can’t believe how quickly things in Japan changed after the war. We got to get on the boat that takes you to the memorial for the USS Arizona. The boat is still in the water and growing coral. There were many fish near it including a beautiful barracuda. We paid our respects and read about all of the history that they had on display here. The craziest thing to learn was that most of the civilian deaths were due to misuse of our equipment and our shots blew up on soil instead of the air. I can’t imagine how wild this attack would have been. From there we boarded the bus and made it back to the hotel. Madison has been eyeing up a Korean restaurant so thats where we went. It was delicious and definitely a good choice. She has been very adventurous with food and it makes for a good time eating. Theres so many good restaurants here I wish we had more time to get them all in. We spent the rest of the night wandering around town and even found a luau. It was a great way to spend the night before crashing early for a busy day tomorrow.

That was the first time I ever had 2 days in one. We started 1/13 off in Tokyo. We wandered around and walked to a park where we spent the rest of our day relaxing and enjoying the beauty of Tokyo. Around 1545 it was time to head to the airport to prepare for our flight. Everything went smooth with getting on the flight and the whole flight. We did an ebird checklist in Tokyo due to getting a lifebird. We arrived in hawaii at 0800 on 1/13 and left Japan 2030 on 1/13 so we pretty much have a whole new day for free. We got to Hawaii and took the bus to downtown Waikiki where we dropped our stuff off at the hotel. It was too early to check in so we walked around and went to the beach. The beach was amazing and so was walking all around. This weather is absolutely beautiful and it’s a hard reset for our bodies to adjust. This island is beautiful and I was able to plan a good bit of the rest of the trip out. I don’t know how often posts will pop up because we are switching into vacation mode and out of travel mode. Stay tuned for the last day of the trip though as I planned something cool for us that day.

Well yesterday started out with absolutely nothing going to plan. I had booked a ticket to the Fuji Speedway Museum. It would prove that getting there was near impossible without proper planning. Which I did not have. The maps said there was a bus I could catch that would take me right there. Well I waited for said bus and it never came. So I just counted that as a loss. Then I was like well Im close to spoon which is a Honda tuner lets go check that out. Well they were closed for coming of age day. So for the third plan I was going to travel all the way to lake Kawaguchi. This was like a 3 hour train ride that I honestly had no idea if it would work out or not at this point in the day. Well after sitting on a few different trains and making my way to a town of Otsuki I could finally see Fuji in sight. I spotted a wildfire that had a helicopter working hard on trying to put it out before it reached the village. I thought Otsuki would be the furthest I could go according to maps. Boy was I wrong. I found the fuji express train that for $6 would take you to the town right below Fuji. It was a little over an hour train ride but I was determined. Finally I arrived and I knew it all was worth it. There I was in front of the famous Lawsons that I dreamed about for so long. I was in absolute awe of the views and the feeling of actually accomplishing this part of my dream. It turned out that while Fuji speedway was not meant to be on this trip. I managed to get this Lawson picture which truly was so magical. With all good things in life you have to enjoy it with a coke. Normally my go-to is a Hershey bar with a coke, but with no hershey bar a chocolate chip cookie would have to replace. Someone even had the same idea as me as there was a coca cola bench looking right at mt Fuji. It was magical to watch the sunset but now it was time to spend the 2.5 hours on a train to get back. My phone got down to 3% and I had no where to charge it. If my phone would’ve died I would have been screwed. All the train passes are based off a card on your phone. I stayed off my phone for the whole 2.5 hours. I noticed how lonely everyone is and no body talks to each other. It’s kind of sad because in America I miss that randoms would just be have random conversations. I can see why they have a lonely epidemic here. While I was off doing Mt Fuji stuff Madison went to Disneyland this time. There was hardly any people and most of the lines were under 30 minute wait. She managed to do 11 rides without buying any fast passes. She said that they had many parades so while people were lined up to do the parades she would aim for the longer wait rides as there were a lot less people. Like a 70 minute wait turned into 25 minutes. She had an absolute blast of a day. We aimed to meet back at the hotel room at 9 to get together and go to the rainbow bridge. This bridge was something that we both really wanted to see. While it was not rainbow today and we had a big boat blocking our way we still got to enjoy its beauty. From there we stopped for some Japanese food. We got a few skewers, a kimchi fried rice bowl and some noodles thing Madison ordered. It was all very good and I was glad to find a restaurant open so late. Then we went to bed and now we are going to enjoy our last day in Japan.

Yesterday was more of a relaxing day for us. We started off with a tulip field. This park called Funabashi Andersen park is based off of Denmark. It was really cool to feel like we are in a total different area while still in Tokyo. This city truly has so much to offer. For Brunch we grabbed some food at a random restaurant. I could not tell you what we ordered but all we knew was it was all so delicious. This restaurant you could tell does not really ever get visited by tourists. There were a few locals in there which is always a great sign. In the end we probably could’ve ended up sharing one of these bowls, but you have no idea how big everything will be until it comes out. Now that we quenched our hunger we hopped on the bus to get to the park. It was a little chilly yesterday but we managed pretty well. We enjoyed the history until it was time to part ways. I headed to go scout out some car pop up shops while Madison went to go do her own thing. I first headed to Yokohama to see the Garage Bar 1961 restaurant that had a few nice cars including my ultimate dream car Ford GT. That meet wasn’t what I thought it would be so I headed towards the Stickydiljoe pop up shop to check out their Kanjo inspired civics. These cars left me in awe of how clean they were. To see this attention to detail on a civic was out of this world. I would love to check out the Los Angeles car scene one day to see more of these beautiful machines. Theres so much car culture out there I would love to dive deeper in, but to get into the group is not the easiest. I have been noticing that here in Tokyo. There are plenty of meets but they keep them lowkey unless you are in the know. It’s nice to keep everything lowkey to avoid getting them overcrowded, but we have been missing them by an hour or two each time. The ones you can drive to are well know but the ones downtown are lowkey. From the Exceed/Stickydiljoe civics I went on a walk to locate the Spoon/Builtbylegends civic. This one was difficult to find as it’s located in a book store with three buildings. Made my hunt for it even better. Upon arrival I saw car inspired designs on the wall and I knew I was in the right spot. The books and magazines that were there was crazy. To find that many car specific books in one place was so cool to see. I got some ideas for books to get at home. And skimmed through some books I had no idea existed. After being in awe of all the car books I caught eye of the beautiful white civic. This car was insanely clean. Theres so many car shops that we grew up watching growing up and to be in the homeland and see their builds is just inspiring. They had some cool sticker collections so I grabbed two packs and even got a free event sticker. Later that day I posted onto my instagram story which got shared by Stickydiljoe and Builtbylegends. Builtbylegends also followed me. Spoon sports liked my story as well. I don’t know those little things were really neat. Yesterday was a great relaxed day, but today has not been going to plan at all. I am going to make the absolute best of it though!!

We had yet another day to enjoy the Tokyo Auto Salon. We slept in a little bit and aimed to get to the auto salon around 1030. We knew today would be crowded and didn’t feel the need to rush there since we got to enjoy the semi quietness of Friday. We stopped at a Krispy creme donut shop on the way and enjoyed our donuts before heading into the show. We were greeted with many cars, but after watching clips I was able to find out what me missed the previous day and ensure we can see them. It all worked out pretty well and by 5pm we were tired and ready to head back towards the hotel. Madison said she wanted to go to the Flagship Disney store so we routed our quest in that direction. This disney store honestly had better items than disney itself. We were also able to enjoy a new part of Tokyo and their really cool stores. Tokyo is truly like another world compared to anything back home. Satisfied of our adventure we went to the hotel to drop everything off and grab some food. Madison has been dying to try this Chinese place by the hotel. At this point I was not all that hungry so she went alone. She had no problems getting seated or the menu given to her. The problem arose when she was trying to order drinks and food. No one gave her any attention and other patrons that entered at the same time already got their rice and drinks. Rightfully pi**ed she left and I met her to go to the Gyoza place from the previous day. There we enjoyed nice hospitality and got some great Gyozas. We got 6 original, 6 spicy sriracha, and 6 butter soy sauce. We loved every bite of them. From there Madison went back to the room and I headed into Shibuya to see what cars I could spot. I found many cool cars, but no meets were in the down town. There were a few meets on the outskirts, but they were too far by train at that point in the night. I hung out and watched the scramble for a little bit, saw some more cars, and then headed back. The trains are incredibly convenient and really make the experience a whole lot easier and better. That concludes our last Saturday in Japan. Still so much I would love to do here, but also we are both so ready to be back. It’s always a double edged sword with long duration traveling.

Best day ever. We slept in yesterday due to having a late night and a long day at Disney. Which was great. Our goal was to go to the Tokyo Auto Salon and look at all the cars I have been dying to see. This place did not disappoint. I saw cars from famous animes like initial D to Top Secret cars literally anything and everything a import car fan can dream of. I was in absolute awe. We went by the Star Road booth and got a shirt as well as checked out their two Zs on display. They specialize on making aluminum panels for Z cars, their own design wheels, and probably the sexiest front lip that I might have to buy one day when I get some money again. They gave us a couple stickers and I was happier than ever. The guy who runs the company was also there out with the common folk. It was truly such a surreal experience. We wandered throughout all the halls just getting a quick browse in as we will be back again. We didn’t look at the map too much so we truly didn’t know what to expect. Which worked out amazingly as I turned one corner and was greeted with the OS Giken Z. Which is my absolute favorite car to come out of Japan. Between this car and the Spirit Garage S30z they have been core for my love of Z cars. I have gone to sleep many nights with the sound of this car roaring me to sleep. To actually get to see it in the flesh was truly mesmerizing. I never knew I could feel such an emotion from seeing a car. Really had a moment of reflection sitting there and looking at it as well as getting to see some of the most iconic cars out of Japan that I never thought I would get to see. Re Amemiya which is a famous RX-7 tuner had a 3 rotor 3 turbo FC which was just insane to see. There were so many cars I could write books about but Ill save you the reading and just show pictures. From there we boarded the train back to the hotel. We did all our laundry, and then got food. On the way to the Laundromat we passed a Gyoza place. If you have been following along you know we had to stop there. We ordered 6 original and 6 brown butter sauce with garlic. They were so delicious we got 6 more originals. The sauce they had to pair it with really set the flavor. For 18 Gyozas, 1 Mimosa, 2 cokes, and 2 waters it was $32. Which for where we are at the price really wasn’t terrible for the amount we got. Then it was time to go to bed and rest. It was too late to go out to another part of Tokyo to car watch so hopefully I can get to do that today.

We had quite the long day yesterday. This was our Disney day and man was it a full day of disney. We arrived at the park around 1030 and stayed until around 920. It was an absolute blast. We got to go on many rides such as peter pan, repunzel, and the tower of terror. They opened at 9 and everyone said just to get there around 10 to beat the first rush. Which worked out pretty good for us. One store that I really wanted to go into was the Scrooge Mcduck store. This would prove to be the most difficult task for the day as you had to prebook and the only available time-slot was for 845 at night. We made the absolute most of our time while we were there. We ate lunch at the Sinbad part of the park and each got a beef curry with rice meal. It was delicious and only $18 for everything. All in all with roughly ten rides, food, and all transportation I spent around $170 yesterday. Which honestly for a full day at Disney you can’t beat it. We got popcorn, a hotdog and a few drinks. One thing that was lacking was their merchandise. There was only one magnet in the whole park that said anything related to disney sea. Honestly the coolest thing was a pressed penny that had Disneysea January 2026 on it. Even in the Scrooge store they had 0 scrooge mcduck merch. It was all duffy and friends which honestly we never even heard of. Oh well Disney designed for kids anyways so maybe it’s the new thing. We had an absolute blast all day long with our favorite ride being the peter pan ride as it was all in 3d and felt soooo realistic. We only had to buy fast passes for Tower of Terror and Journey to the Center of the Earth. Other than that they were less than 30 minute waits. One ride that we did not do was the frozen ride. This one was consistently 140 minute waits with no option to buy the fast pass. Online reviews called this the best disney ride in all the parks. We had such a magical day and are so happy to have this opportunity to explore a disney park that isn’t overcrowded and prices were actually reasonable. We walked around 30,000 steps today which apparently is a day record for me from when I bought my garmin watch in 2024 which was actually cool to see. All my records have been from 2026. We have been doing lots of walking and today will be no different. Today and tomorrow are my most anticipated days of the week and I can’t wait to see how they all play out!
