Last week’s Bike to Work Day at Merritt 7 was proof that when people show up on two wheels, it adds up to real change. 🚲💚
We’re grateful for every rider, walker, and commuter who stopped by our Norwalk Bike/Walk Commission table to say hello, grab coffee, and talk about safer streets in our city. Thanks to you, cyclists walked away with tune‑up coupons worth about $100 each from our local partner SmartCycles, supporting well‑maintained bikes is one of the simplest ways to keep everyday riding safe and enjoyable.
We’re also excited to announce that we had SIX raffle winners, who will each receive a rear‑facing camera for their bike or scooter. Rear cameras and lights help riders stay more visible and aware of traffic conditions.
Events like Bike to Work Day do more than fuel one morning commute: regular bike commuting is linked with better cardiovascular health, lower risk of chronic disease, reduced stress, and improved mental well‑being, while cutting emissions and noise on our streets. Choosing a bike for even a few trips a week can significantly shrink your transportation carbon footprint and help make neighborhoods cleaner and quieter for everyone.
To everyone who came out: thank you for being part of a growing movement to make Norwalk safer, healthier, and more connected for people who bike and walk. If this picture inspires you, consider riding to work, to transit, or to your errands once this week, share your ride and tag us so we can keep celebrating the momentum together.
