The Tiny Corner Bike Shop

The Tiny Corner Bike Shop A small-town bike shop supporting the greater Oakland, Maryland area that offers bike repairs, apparel, gear, tools, and new bikes.

Apparently a water leak developed under the bike shop sometime between last Saturday and today. No idea when, but 27,000 gallons of water leaked from pipes somewhere *gestures wildly* under my very small building that has almost no crawl space.

That said, the shop will remain OPEN, meaning the door will be open and you can buy things, but all current repairs will be on hold until the situation is fixed, and I won't be accepting any new repairs until next week at the earliest. It might be even longer.

I'm sorry, ya'll, from the bottom of my heart. I just can't work any faster and I can't solve things with the wave of a wand, especially when it involves a massive water leak that I can barely access and don't know how to fix. (And god only knows how I'm going to be able to afford a water bill that is suddenly 27 TIMES what I normally pay.)

I deeply appreciate your patience and understanding.

Edit/Update: Thanks to everyone who reached out about having the bill adjusted, including Mayor Sauder. I really appreciate the help!

The shop will open a little late today, probably around 10:45-11:00. Sorry for the late notice!!

The Trackleaders page for the Snallygaster 200 is now live! We have 9 adventurous souls currently signed up the 200, 6 for the 100, and 1 for the 100K (and maybe more to come.)

I haven't been as vocal about the race this year as I have in past, but it's still VERY MUCH happening and we have folks coming from all over the Mid-Atlantic and even two riders from the Midwest (Illinois and Indiana).

If you'd like to roll out with us on Saturday, September 12th at 7 AM, there's a 100K option or you can simply do your own thing. The event is FREE TO ENTER (donations welcome, though!) because we're not taking this too seriously. Ride as much as you want. Ride as little as you want. All routes are available to see on the bike shop website.

So come meet cool people who like to ride bikes JUST LIKE YOU!

On a different note, the Tour de France Femmes starts on Saturday!! If you're not familiar with the top contenders, this article gives a nice overview. Vollering is the favorite and my bet, but it'll be fun to see what Blasi does!

A wave of 21-to-23-year-olds have upset the sport's biggest races this season. At the Tour de France Femmes, the podium has stayed the exclusive property of the peloton's most established riders. But will that change this year?

After many (many) requests, new merchandise is FINALLY here. It's been two years since the shop did new shirts, and I love how these turned out. New shop beanies should be here soon too, just in time for those cooler evenings. Huge thanks to Alice and the whole crew at East West Printing in Davis, WV!

This is a repost from Saturday. The correct date is Sunday, August 9th!

If you haven't heard, there's a new mountain bike event happening in Garrett County on August 9th, called 240 Minutes of Margraff! As anyone who has ridden there will tell you, the new trails at Margraff are amazing, and the proceeds from the event are going to a good cause. Definitely a win-win. And if you're like me and don't have much time to train, you can simply register for the "Just Ride" category and have fun without pressure. That's what I'll be doing -- and you should come join me!!

Huge thanks to the event promoters, too, for being inclusive with their categories.

Well, the old and much loved record player finally went to the big juke box in the sky this afternoon, so I walked on over to the always wonderful Flipside Sounds and got a new one! It's a great afternoon to stay indoors, work on bikes, and listen to music. :)
