🎈 A gentle reminder from Wander Wild… balloons don’t go to heaven.
🎈
I know balloon releases often come from a place of love, grief, and wanting to honor someone we miss. The intention is beautiful. Truly.
🎈
But those balloons? They don’t disappear into the clouds… and they don’t make it to heaven. Eventually, they fall back to earth—into forests, rivers, lakes, farm fields, marshes, and sometimes the very wild places we claim to love.
🎈
🦌🦅🐢 Wildlife can mistake balloon pieces, ribbon, and string for food—or become tangled in them. Birds, deer, turtles, fish, and other animals can be injured… or worse. What feels like a tribute in one moment can become litter—or a death trap—in another.
🎈
Nature remembers what we leave behind.
🎈
🌲✨ If you want to honor someone’s memory, there are ways to make it meaningful and lasting:
🎈
• Plant a tree in their honor
• Scatter wildflower seeds (where permitted)
• Donate to a cause they loved
• Light a candle and share stories
• Take a memorial hike and leave no trace
• Place a bench, birdhouse, or native plant in their name
🎈
Love can rise without leaving harm behind.
🎈
Sometimes the most beautiful tributes are the ones that give life back to the world.
