Four things I’d tell anyone traveling to Europe for the first time:

Don’t book a hotel without a transportation plan. Some of the nicest properties are far from the airport and the city center. Know how you’re getting there before you book.

Don’t wait on airfare. There’s a misconception that last minute deals are worth waiting for. Sometimes fares drop. So do your options. An overseas flight with two layovers isn’t worth the couple hundred dollars you might save.

Don’t schedule back to back tours. Always keep a block of time completely unscheduled. You never know what you’ll need until you’re there, and sometimes that’s just sitting at a café for two hours with a cappuccino.

Be careful about renting a car. It’s doable, but most signage is in a different language, roads are narrow, and drivers operate differently. Europe’s transportation infrastructure is designed so you don’t have to drive. Use it.

Some nights I wish I could wake my kids up just to see them again.

One night, I even snuck into Nora’s room and tried to sleep next to her, like I used to when she was in her bassinet.

It didn’t work. She woke up and manually lifted my eyelids open and said “wake up mama”.

I’m going to try again one night…when I don’t need any sleep.

She turns two this week. My baby girl.

Paris, early morning. I made coffee in my room, opened the windows and sat with the breeze for a few minutes before the day started.

Big travel day ahead. But for that moment, nowhere to be.

“This is one of the best trips I’ve ever been on.”

That’s exactly what I hoped they’d feel.

I had the honor of attending this couple’s wedding, and it meant even more when they trusted me to help plan their honeymoon.

A few things I’ve learned from planning honeymoons, anniversaries, and vow renewals:
It’s only romantic if you have time to actually feel romantic.

Rushed around all day from site to site? Train transfer so long you need to shower the second you arrive at your next hotel? You’re not going to be walking into your candlelit dinner feeling relaxed. You’re exhausted.

So I always leave the afternoon and early evening open before a special dinner. I don’t plan two tours in one day. Transfer time stays under two hours when possible, and if it can’t, we find something worth stopping for along the way. I build in actual rest days, days where you do nothing at all.

I want clients to have the space to feel beautiful and comfortable, every moment of their trip.

“Our vow renewal at Glenlo Abbey we will never forget. You gave above-5-star service and unreasonable hospitality. You captured everything we discussed. This was truly a once-in-a-lifetime trip.”

One of my clients renewed their vows in Ireland this spring. They celebrated 25 years of marriage at a castle with their closest friends.

They originally asked about Fiji, the Maldives, and Greece. After talking through what they actually wanted (intimate, historic, strong local culture), we built a 10-day Ireland itinerary:

Ballynahinch Castle on the coast, vow renewal at Glenlo Abbey, countryside drives through Connemara.

Everything worked. The castle, the vow renewal, the timing, the details. This is the kind of trip I want to keep planning.

Travel frustration comes from not knowing which planning model you’re working with.

A reminder I give my travelers often:
You don’t have to go far to find something beautiful.

And this was just one afternoon.

You should 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 book your flights before your hotel.
Here’s why.

It’s one of the most common mistakes I see when travelers start planning a big trip.

They find a “great deal” on flights, click purchase, and then start looking for hotels.

The problem?
𝗔𝗶𝗿𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘀, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘀.

Maybe the city has a major event that week and rooms are triple the price.
Maybe the perfect itinerary would have worked better in reverse if you hadn’t already locked yourself into an arrival date.

When I design an itinerary, the flights are one of the last pieces I confirm.
Because the hotels, their location, room selection, and timing set the tone for the entire trip.

Sometimes, saving $400 on airfare can cost you the experience you were dreaming of in the first place.
