Wet roads mean less traction, longer stopping distances, and a lot less room for mistakes. Driving like it’s a dry, sunny day can turn dangerous in a heartbeat.

💡 And PLEASE turn your headlights on!

If it’s raining hard enough that visibility is poor, commercial trucks, tow trucks, and other large vehicles may have a much harder time seeing you — especially through all the road spray.

If your wipers are on, your headlights should be too.
Slow down. Give yourself extra room. Make yourself visible.

You have seen it, we have seen it, and now we are stepping up our enforcement of it. What are we talking about? RED LIGHT RUNNERS! This is one of the biggest traffic complaints along with speeding that we receive. Make good choices and stop for red lights, or you may get a chance to meet our officers.

About 10,000 people a year die in U.S. crashes while not wearing a seat belt. In 2024, the number was 9,758 passenger vehicle occupants—about 27 people every day, according to NHTSA.

That counts people who died while unbuckled; it doesn’t mean every one of those deaths would have been prevented by wearing a belt. However, seat belts reduce fatal-injury risk for front-seat passenger-car occupants by 45%.
