Packed ramp this morning at Dewitt Field - Old Town Municipal Airport and Seaplane Base KOLD.

Jets, twins, survey birds, float planes, and flight school aircraft…almost every one on the front line here to do business in some way with Northwoods Air.

We’re proud of our little airport, and glad to be a driver to promote economic activity in our region.

We flew over the collapsed bridge in Old Town this morning.

While it was an unfortunate accident, thankfully nobody was critically injured in the collapse.

Alright folks, our hiring window is now closed.

Some quick numbers:

We received about 160 applications.

Of those, 125 met the 300 hours minimum. From that narrowed field, 44 had the required time in Cessna 172/182 aircraft. About 10 had time in Piper Aztecs (With several people apparently not understanding that a Seminole is NOT an Aztec, and a Seneca isn’t either). We had 5 applicants who are A&P mechanics. In total, we had about 60 applicants who met the minimum requirements but also held a qualification that met our preferred requirements.

Meet Ethan! ✈️ Ethan is one of our newest Certified Flight Instructors, specializing in tailwheel instruction.

Ethan grew up around aviation, living near the old naval air station in Brunswick. Being a pilot in some capacity has always been a goal of his. He is passionate about antique and historic airplanes and enjoys focusing on basic stick and rudder skills.
