After nearly a decade of dedication and community collaboration, the historic 1906 tugboat Parthia has found her forever home beside the The Olympia Farmers Market, where her story can continue for generations to come.

Led by the South Sound Maritime Heritage Foundation, this has been a true community effort. Contributions from Port of Olympia, FORMA Construction, Thomas Architecture Studios and the many volunteers and community supporters were instrumental in bringing the project to life.

Parthia may have left the water, but thanks to a community coming together, she can remain a lasting part of Olympias waterfront.

The Port of Olympia is saddened and reflects with deep respect on the passing of Nisqually Tribal Chairman Ellery “Ken” Choke. Chairman Choke was a dedicated leader who carried the heart of his people, working tirelessly to protect the land, water, and community of the Nisqually Indian Tribe.

We honor his steady leadership, his commitment to strengthening relationships across our local communities, and his efforts to steward and safeguard the natural resources we all depend on. His guidance and collaboration have had a lasting impact on this region and will continue to benefit future generations.

We extend our deepest condolences to Chairman Choke’s family, the Tribal Council, and the entire Nisqually community. The Port of Olympia is grateful for the long-standing partnership we share with the Nisqually Tribe, and we stand with them in honoring Chairman Choke’s life, legacy, and service.
