First summer on the water? ✔️
First winter owning a boat? We’ve got you covered!

A little preparation now helps protect your boat—and next season’s memories. Save this checklist before the cold arrives:

✅ Book winterization before freezing temperatures. Your engine and any systems that hold water need preparation specific to your boat.

✅ Catch up on maintenance. Review oil, filters, and gear-lube service needs, and have leaks or unusual noises checked.

✅ Prepare your fuel and battery for storage. Follow your manufacturer’s fuel treatment, charging, and storage instructions.

✅ Clean it out and dry it out. Remove food, wet towels, and gear. Let upholstery and storage compartments dry thoroughly.

✅ Check your cover. Inspect for tears, secure straps, and support areas where water or snow could collect.

✅ Give your trailer some attention. Check tires, lights, bearings, and straps before putting it away.

✅ Check on your boat throughout winter. Watch for moisture, pests, and cover damage.

💡 Rookie mistake to avoid: Assuming a boat cover or an unheated garage replaces winterization. Trapped water can still freeze!
