Scenes from ATVing in the Mexican desert. Pretty sure I’m still removing the dirt from my teeth and nostrils but oh my god what a view.

Thinking we should start doing some port highlights, maybe inspire y’all to get off the beaten path even in the most popular ports…thoughts?

One thing about me is if I’m not feeling my port plans, I’m always gonna make the last minute change instead of dragging myself out. And when the long drive to Antigua looked like it was going to be full of traffic and i plan to head there for multiple days in the future anyways…I pivot. 20 minutes on a local tuk-tuk dropped us right at a resort with a black sand beach, open bar, shaded pools, and probably a whole lot more we never saw.

I’m rarely a beach and resort club human but when you’re feeling it, you do it.

Guatemala is one of my favorite travel spots on earth and a gem on the Panama Canal sailings. So stop in for a day on your crossing and then head back to spend a week enjoying Lake Atitlan and Antigua, trust me.

Brilliant Lady update: Guatemala Edition

Guatemala remains one of my favorite countries. Skipped the multi-hour drive from port to Antigua (in favor of planning a multi-day visit sometime soon) and took a tuk-tuk one town over from the industrial port to a beach club. Ate, drank, swam, enjoyed the black sand beach, and made a tiny lizard friend before heading back onto the ship for a long nap.

American Chinese food in…Mexico City? Listen, even the hardiest of us sometimes want a one meal break from tacos. And when bartenders around the city keep recommending one place, that’s where you go.

Chow Chow is a top notch cocktail bar and restaurant, serving cocktails featuring a ton of homemade ingredients (including lacto-fermented strawberries) and top notch food. Their take on class American Chinese dishes is brighter and more savory than you might find in the states, and it’s definitely not a bad thing.

Mexico City has one of the most creative, diverse, and high quality food and cocktail scenes in the world and while yes, I can eat tacos and other CDMX staples for most of my meals, branching out often yields a pleasant surprise!

Not a child in sight…on a Disney Cruise?

The adults only pool areas on the Wish class ships are tucked away where no wandering children can disturb the peace. Definitely a design upgrade from earlier ships!
