"Mexico has officially rejected Royal Caribbean’s planned Perfect Day Mexico project in Mahahual after months of environmental concerns, legal challenges, and backlash from local groups.

The project was expected to become one of Royal Caribbean’s biggest destinations, featuring massive waterparks, beaches, pools, restaurants, and attractions designed for up to 20,000 visitors per day.

Environmental organizations and residents argued the development could damage coral reefs, mangroves, marine life, and the surrounding ecosystem near the Mesoamerican Reef System."
