The Island Packers Vanguard heads toward the breathtaking Channel Islands National Park, carrying visitors to a place unlike anywhere else in California.

From our boat, it's always exciting to watch these trips begin. Whether you're hiking untouched trails, kayaking sea caves, spotting wildlife, or simply escaping the mainland for the day, every voyage to the islands starts with a little anticipation as the shoreline fades behind you.

The Channel Islands truly are California's hidden gem, and we're lucky to call Channel Islands Harbor home.

I met someone recently who shared a memory of Whales Tail. She said on New Years Eve in the late 1970's parts of the roof blew off and landed on the cars (or a car) in the parking lot. Would have been an East wind. Anyone else remember this event? Or have other stories from the harbor that are worth mentioning, and looking into?
