Kinda shows some different steps for making an enclosure panel. It’s mind boggling how much time it takes to make one of the panels. You look at it and think….3 to 4 hours tops, add traveling to the boat, making the pattern, cleaning up the pattern, transferring the pattern, adding the second layer of material and re-enforcements, sewing glass pocket, sewing outer holding stitch, sewing upper re enforcement line to hold the load of the snap, bind the outer edge, cut the center out, transfer the pattern to clear, cut, sew the inner curve of the zipper to help create curve, sew the u-zip in, put sliders on the zipper, cut the u-zipper, pre fold the 2 finished edges that sew to the glass, sew the banding on to marks, clean all your white pencil marks…..NOPE NOT DONE YET……line up panels and align for zippers, sew the zippers on to marks, add roll up straps for the u-zippers, get the panels bagged up to travel, drive the vessel, install hardware…….ARE YOU DONE YET??? NOT REALLY…… go back to the shop, clean up shop because it looks like a bomb went off, bill the customer and finally get payment and put the check in the bank. Well what’s the total you ask? TOTAL IS ABOUT 9 to 11 hours each. Depending on U- zipper finishing.
This post isn’t for you lol, it’s so I remember the pain!
