Each year, LifeLine Pilots proudly honors a select group of volunteer pilots whose dedication, generosity, and impact go above and beyond. These awards recognize not only flight hours and mission counts, but the spirit of service that defines our community through reliability, compassion, and a deep commitment to helping others.

🏆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗪𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮 𝗪𝗵𝗶𝘁𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘁 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿'𝘀 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱: 𝗞𝗲𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗶𝗹𝘆 (𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘁𝗮)
The Wanda Whitsitt Founder's Award honors a pilot who has demonstrated an enduring, multi-year commitment to LifeLine Pilots through volunteer service, leadership, and unwavering support of our mission.

Since joining LifeLine Pilots in 2010, Ken has completed 𝟱𝟯 𝗳𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀, covering 𝟭𝟮,𝟵𝟮𝟳 𝗻𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀 and logging more than 𝟭𝟵𝟮 𝗳𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 in service to patients and families. Beyond flying missions, Ken has served on the Board of Directors for 14 years, recently stepped into leadership of the Safety Committee, and helped update key pilot guidance to support the organization's future.

Known for his expertise, thoughtful advice, and willingness to assist with difficult or last-minute flights, Ken represents the dedication and leadership that have strengthened LifeLine Pilots for years.

✈️ Most LifeLine Pilots flights are flown for patients traveling to scheduled medical care. But sometimes our volunteer pilots transport a very special kind of passenger: a future service dog on its way to changing someone's life.

🐾Through our partnership with Canine Companions, we help transport service dogs in training as part of our humanitarian mission to serve people. These dogs are preparing for careers that will provide greater independence, confidence and support to the individuals who rely on them.

📷 Photo: This recent special delivery flight was made possible by volunteer pilot Joshua and his sons, Zach and Ben, who delivered two puppies to Canine Companion volunteers at Indianapolis International Airport.

While LifeLine Pilots does not provide animal rescue or pet transportation services, we're proud to provide missions like these because of the life-changing impact service dogs have on the people they serve.

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, help connect patients to resources that can make the cancer journey a little easier.

For patients who must travel 100 to 1,000 miles for scheduled and repeat medical appointments, LifeLine Pilots provides free flights for medical care, helping ensure distance is never a barrier to treatment.

Whether flying with us for diagnostics, treatment, follow-up care, or clinical trials, our passengers can focus on what matters most: their health.

As LifeLine Pilots attends conferences and community events to raise awareness of free flights, we've connected with organizations that support patients in other ways. One of those organizations is Triage Cancer, a national nonprofit that provides free education and resources to help individuals diagnosed with cancer and their caregivers navigate the legal, financial, and practical challenges that often accompany treatment.

When you’re flying with LifeLine Pilots, packing smart is essential.
Passengers are asked to follow luggage requirements:
✔ Limit luggage to a maximum of 40 lbs between all passengers
✔ All bags must be soft-sided (duffle bags or backpacks work best)

✈️ Meet Benjamin.

At 13 years old, he's already flown nearly a dozen times with LifeLine Pilots volunteer pilots, traveling from northern Michigan to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, for specialized treatment for a brain tumor.

💙 Thanks to volunteer pilot Claud, Benjamin and his mom made it to his appointment this week in less than 2 hours instead of an exhausting eight-hour drive.

When Candice's breast cancer returned as metastatic cancer, she enrolled in a 36-month clinical trial at Mayo Clinic. But the distance from home created a major challenge.

Making the six-hour drive from home simply wasn't practical with the frequency of her appointments. Commercial flights weren't an option either, being immunocompromised.

Candice made the difficult decision to rent an apartment near Mayo Clinic and go through her treatments alone, more than 300 miles from her teenage son and family support system.

Fortunately, an oncology nurse recognized the toll that distance was taking on Candice and told her about LifeLine Pilots’ free, unlimited flights available for patients like her. With that resource in hand, she ended her lease and moved back home.

💙 Now, Candice no longer has to choose between the hope of a clinical trial and the comfort of family and home. She can safely and conveniently fly to all of her appointments with her mother by her side.

"I am so grateful for the free flights. It's not about the cost, but the time it gives me," Candice shared. "Without LifeLine Pilots, I'm not sure I'd be able to come back and live at home with my son."
