On Saturday, we celebrated the memory of our friend, Jack Goritski, with a large gathering of friends and family. Thank you to everyone for attending and sharing your memories. Jack's family and ice boating friends expressed their sincere gratitude and had the opportunity to experience some glider rides to honor Jack.

From May 31 to June 2nd, PGC experienced some of the best soaring weather we've seen in a long time. Particularly on Monday and Tuesday where cloud bases were up to 8,000 and even 9000 farther north!

Join us in congratulating 2 PGC pilots on their badge worthy flights:

Julia Karasinski, flying her Discus 2 (VB), had 2 outstanding flights. On Monday she completed her Gold distance, a declared 300km triangle. Then on Tuesday completed the Governors Cup (a flight around Allentown Class C) at a blistering pace of over 70kph.

Joe Mastro, flying his Std Libelle (JOE), completed his silver badge which requires a flight flying 50km from takeoff. He blew the silver badge distance out of the water with a 270km flight the day after his Private Pilot checkride. Then backed it up on Tuesday with another 280km flight.

Over the 3 days PGC logged over 2200km on Weglide (1367 miles) from flights submitted by Lukas, Julia, Ben, and Joe. We wouldn't be able to take advantage of such amazing flying days without our amazing tow pilots and ground crew who volunteer their time to let us fly. Thank you Chris, John, and Bob for towing Monday and Tuesday.

Congratulations to Joe M on earning his Private Pilot Glider License! On Sunday he passed his checkride with examiner, Randy Rickert. Joe has been flying at PGC for the past 2 years, and now he is excited to fly more cross country in his Libelle and show friends and family our wonderful sport.

Our instructor Tom P flew in this beautiful vintage glider for the first time today. Made by Sleicher, the Ka6 is composed of wood and fabric. Although it doesn't do well in a glide compared to modern gliders, it can out thermal anything in the skies. This particular aircraft has been passed around between club members for a while now. We love to keep gliders in the PGC family. Nice flight Tom!

A nice month of May flying for PGC. Of note were the nice soaring days despite the Memorial Day weekend washout. On Friday the xc team was out; Alain achieved his gold distance 300km! Phil L also flew up to Blairstown for the first time and made a successful landout at Quakertown. Thank you to all our members who make flying at PGC possible, especially on ad hoc days. Now enjoy some nice photos that other members and I took.

It is with an incredibly heavy heart that we share that our dear friend and club member, Jack Goritski, has passed away.

Jack has been a staple at PGC for over 30 years, and is a dear friend to many. Jack was and still is very much part of the fabric of PGC. He leaves a permanent mark on our club, from instruction, to maintaining our fleet, to caring for our field, and most importantly, for caring for his fellow pilots and friends. His dedication to PGC and soaring will always be remembered.

Back at it again with Monday flying. Today was a blue day but that didn't stop xc flights from happening. The discus and KG were up and had multiple flights over 2 hours. Alain flew again and completed the first governors cup of the year! This season is looking promising. Thank you everybody who pitched in, especially John and Andrew for Towing.

On Monday, members arranged to fly in the afternoon, so they could take advantage of some rare and incredible conditions for PGC. Cloud bases were around 7,000 msl. Despite the sub freezing temperatures and snow virga we got some nice flights in! Thank you everybody who helped out.

Take a look at some photos from Alain's flight in his Lak below:
