Every year, on the feast of Sant’Ambrogio, Teatro alla Scala opens its new season. In 2026, the honor goes to Giuseppe Verdi’s Otello, conducted by Myung-Whun Chung.

In Italy, a tomato is never just a tomato. 🍅

There are hundreds of local varieties, each with its own shape, flavor and story.

Fresh in a Caprese, slowly cooked into a sauce, rubbed onto bread, baked, preserved or simply enjoyed with olive oil and salt: in the video, you will see only a few of its many lives.

The tomato may have arrived in Italy from far away, but today it is impossible to imagine Italian cuisine without it.
