๐Ÿš› A Good Reminder About Cargo Securement

We recently came across a post from someone in the fleet industry showing just how quickly a cargo securement issue can turn into a serious safety concern. It was a great reminder that properly securing a load isn't something that ends once the truck starts moving.

According to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), cargo must be properly secured to prevent it from shifting or falling during transportation. Securement systems also need to account for the forces that occur during normal driving, including braking, accelerating, and turning.

At Fairchild Freight, safety is an important part of what we do every day. Taking the time to inspect equipment, pay attention to changing conditions, and address potential issues helps protect our drivers, our equipment, our customers' freight, and everyone sharing the road.
A few extra minutes to stop, inspect, and correct an issue can make all the difference.

๐Ÿฅฅ World Coconut Day | September 2

Hereโ€™s a trucking fact you might not think about when you see coconuts at the grocery store:

Coconuts can travel thousands of miles before reaching store shelves in the U.S. Since most are grown in tropical regions, transportation plays an important role in connecting growers and suppliers with customers across the country.

And unlike many fresh foods, mature coconuts are naturally built for the journey. Their thick, fibrous husk helps protect them during handling and transportation. Pretty convenient packaging from Mother Nature! ๐Ÿฅฅ

For the trucking industry, products like coconuts are another reminder of just how much goes into keeping our food supply moving from its source to its final destination.

Happy World Coconut Day!

๐Ÿš› Brake Safety Week: Safety Is a Shared Responsibility

As Brake Safety Week continues, weโ€™re taking a moment to recognize something that matters every day of the year: the responsibility we all share to keep our roads safe.

For professional drivers, safety is behind countless decisions made throughout every trip. For maintenance teams, it means keeping equipment road-ready. For carriers, it means building a culture where safety is never treated as an afterthought.

At Fairchild Freight, weโ€™re proud of the people who make safety a priority while keeping fresh food moving across the country.

Brake Safety Week may last seven days, but the commitment to safer roads never stops.

Thank you to the drivers, technicians, and transportation professionals doing their part every day.

๐Ÿฅฌ๐ŸŸ Produce and Seafood Have More in Common Than You Might Think

At first glance, fresh produce and seafood seem like very different products. But when it comes to transportation, they rely on many of the same principles.

Both require careful planning, consistent temperature control, efficient scheduling, and dependable transportation to help preserve freshness from origin to destination.

Whether it's crisp lettuce leaving a farm or wild Alaska salmon leaving a processing facility, maintaining the cold chain is essential to protecting quality every mile of the journey.

At Fairchild Freight, we've built our reputation on transporting fresh food. From produce to seafood, we understand that every shipment deserves the same level of care, precision, and reliability.

Because fresh food isn't just freightโ€”it's a promise to deliver quality.

๐ŸŸ Did You Know? Alaska Seafood Can Reach Your Table in Just Days

When people think about Alaska seafood, they often picture remote fishing communities and rugged coastlines. What many don't realize is how quickly those products can make their way to grocery stores and restaurants across North America.

After seafood is harvested and processed, a carefully coordinated transportation network goes to work. Dispatchers, warehouse teams, drivers, and logistics professionals work together to keep shipments moving efficiently while maintaining the cold chain every step of the way.

From processing facilities in Alaska to distribution centers, retailers, restaurants, and ultimately your dinner table, dependable transportation helps preserve freshness and quality throughout the journey.

At Fairchild Freight, we're proud to support the supply chain that helps deliver fresh seafood safely and efficiently to communities across the country.

๐Ÿ›‘ Brake Safety Week is August 23โ€“29, 2026.

Safe transportation starts with safe equipment. During Brake Safety Week, commercial motor vehicle inspectors across North America will place an increased focus on brake systems, including the condition of brake drums and rotors.

For drivers and fleets, this is an important reminder that thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections can help identify cracked, worn, rusted, or damaged brake components before they become a serious safety issue.

At Fairchild Freight, safety is an essential part of delivering fresh food safely and reliably. We encourage drivers and transportation professionals to review these brake drum and rotor inspection tips and make brake safety a priority every day.

Safe brakes save lives. Inspect. Maintain. Protect.

โ„๏ธ Cold Chain Technology: More Than Just a Refrigerated Trailer

Protecting fresh food starts long before the first mile and continues until the final delivery.

Behind every temperature-controlled shipment is a series of checks and processes designed to help maintain product quality throughout the journey.

๐Ÿš› Trailer inspections help ensure equipment is ready before loading.
๐ŸŒก๏ธ Temperature monitoring helps maintain consistent conditions from pickup to delivery.
๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ Route planning helps minimize delays and keep shipments moving efficiently.
๐Ÿ“ฑ Communication between drivers, dispatchers, and customers keeps everyone informed along the way.
๐Ÿ“ฆ Proactive logistics help address potential issues before they become problems.

When every detail works together, fresh food arrives the way it was intended.

At Fairchild Freight, we know protecting the cold chain takes more than refrigerated equipment. It takes planning, technology, teamwork, and experience.

โ„๏ธ Myth vs. Fact: Refrigerated Transportation

โŒ Myth: A re**er trailer freezes everything.

โœ… Fact: Different fresh food products require different temperatures to maintain their quality.

Not every shipment is transported at freezing temperatures. Fresh seafood, frozen seafood, produce, dairy, and other temperature-sensitive products all have their own ideal temperature ranges based on the commodity being transported.

The goal isn't simply to make the trailer as cold as possible. It's to maintain the right temperature consistently from pickup to delivery.

That's why careful planning, properly maintained equipment, and experienced logistics professionals are essential to protecting product quality throughout the cold chain.

At Fairchild Freight, we know that every degree matters when transporting fresh food.
