When I say 3rd generation truck driver, I'm selling the saga short. It's in my blood, woven into the very fabric of who I am.
My maternal grandfather, a titan of the road, was crisscrossing the nation when I entered the world. He christened me with a nickname born from the hum of a payphone and the glow of an 'Oats' sign, a name that echoed through my childhood. Trucking was his life, his passion, his legacy.
On my dad's side, the lineage of trucking runs deep. From concrete highways to blazing infernos, from long hauls to life-saving runs, my grandfather instilled the spirit of the road in his sons. He was a man of many hats, from rancher to realtor, but always a trucker at heart.
And my dad? He was the epitome of the road warrior, never tethered to a desk, always chasing the horizon. Lumberyards, small hauls, teaming up with my grandfather, the road was his domain.
And now, after 25 years navigating the digital highways of Information Technology, I'm ready to trade the pixels for pavement. As the first woman in this lineage, I'm embarking on a new odyssey, following in the tire tracks of those who came before me. It's time to swap keyboards for gear shifts and embark on the adventure of a lifetime."
