If a secret garden, a Gothic fairytale and a little bit of magic were all folded into one place, it would be Quinta da Regaleira. ✨🌿

Hidden passageways, moss-covered towers, underground tunnels, whimsical gardens and the famous Initiation Well...it felt like every path led to another secret waiting to be discovered.

This was easily one of the most enchanting places we visited in Portugal. My biggest advice? Arrive early, wear comfortable shoes and give yourself plenty of time to wander without rushing. The magic of Quinta da Regaleira isn’t only in the famous sights.....it’s in getting a little lost along the way.

Sintra already feels like something from a storybook, but this place took it to an entirely different level. Swoon-worthy doesn’t even begin to cover it. 🇵🇹✨

One of the BEST decisions I made while planning Lisbon? Booking a Tuk Tuk tour for our very first full day in the city! 🇵🇹🛺

Lisbon is famously known as the City of Seven Hills… but I’m pretty sure we encountered at least 60. 😂 Doing the tour early allowed us to get our bearings, understand how the different neighborhoods connected and figure out exactly which areas we wanted to return to and explore on foot....without spending our first day completely exhausting ourselves climbing every hill in sight.

I booked a premium half-day tour with our guide Thiago several months in advance, and I genuinely cannot recommend him enough. He was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about Lisbon, knew exactly when to visit the popular spots before the massive tour groups arrived and completely customized the experience around what we love.

Of course, we saw the famous viewpoints and iconic neighborhoods, but Thiago also took us far beyond the typical tourist route to incredible street art, hidden corners, secret garden bars and places we never would have discovered on our own. He understood our vibe immediately and somehow made the day feel equal parts sightseeing, adventure and hanging out with a local friend who knew all the coolest spots.

This ended up being one of our absolute favorite days of the entire trip...and one I know we’ll never forget. ❤️

My travel advisor recommendation: book your Tuk Tuk tour at the very beginning of your Lisbon stay. You’ll see an incredible amount of the city, save your legs from approximately one million hills and walk away knowing exactly where you want to spend the rest of your time.

If your Lisbon hotel wish list includes an incredible location, gorgeous design, fantastic service and one of the most beautiful restaurants you’ve ever stepped inside… allow me to introduce you to The Ivens. 😍🇵🇹

From the moment we arrived, the experience felt special. We were greeted with ch*****ne, welcomed by the kindest team and had a concierge available for everything from reservations and directions to the silliest little questions we came up with along the way. The service was consistently warm, personal and genuinely helpful throughout our entire stay.

The rooms are smaller - which is very typical for European city hotels - but ours was beautifully designed and had everything we needed. If having lots of room to spread out is a non-negotiable for you, I would absolutely recommend upgrading to a suite rather than booking one of the standard rooms.

Breakfast every morning was wonderful, with both a beautiful buffet and à la carte options available. But dinner at Rocco? An absolute MUST. The restaurant may genuinely be one of the most beautiful I’ve ever stepped inside. Every room feels completely different, the details are unreal, the cocktails are fabulous and dinner felt like a full experience...not simply another restaurant reservation. Even if you aren’t staying at The Ivens, put Rocco on your Lisbon list.

The true highlight, though, is the location. The hotel is within walking distance of so many restaurants, coffee shops, stores, bars and nightlife spots, making it incredibly easy to explore Lisbon without constantly arranging transportation. Yet it’s tucked away on a quieter alley just behind all the energy, so when we couldn’t keep our eyes open for one more second, we could retreat to a peaceful room and actually sleep. 😂

The Ivens gave us the best of both worlds: a beautiful luxury hotel with personality and an ideal home base in the heart of Lisbon. For a romantic getaway, anniversary or first visit to the city, this one would be very hard to beat. ❤️

Lisbon, you completely stole our hearts. 🇵🇹❤️

I have approximately 7,492 photos from our first few days in Portugal and absolutely no idea how I’m supposed to narrow them down… so consider this the beginning of my Portugal personality for the foreseeable future. 😂

We stayed at the incredible Ivens Hotel, ate and drank VERY well, explored the city’s seven hills by tuk-tuk, wandered through colorful streets covered in tiles and street art, and quickly fell in love with neighborhoods like Príncipe Real and Alfama. The famous sights were beautiful, but honestly, it was the little moments in between....the hidden streets, neighborhood cafés, unexpected views and simply wandering hand-in-hand....that made Lisbon feel so special!!

This city is vibrant, romantic, creative, a little chaotic and filled with so much personality. We packed a lot into our time here, but never felt like we were just checking landmarks off a list.....and that balance made all the difference.

We’ve officially moved on to the next chapters of our Portugal adventure, but I haven’t shared a single thing because apparently I was too busy actually enjoying the trip. Imagine that! 😂 So, we’re starting with a little Lisbon photo dump while I attempt to organize the thousands of photos still waiting in my camera roll.

Lisbon, you were the most perfect beginning to our Portugal anniversary adventure. ✨ And trust me… there is so much more to come.

You have to choose one:

A beautiful room with a private plunge pool....but the beach is just okay

OR

A more basic room....but the beach is absolutely unreal

I’m usually choosing the better beach. I love a gorgeous room, but I didn’t fly all that way to spend the entire trip inside it.

Unless we’re talking about an overwater bungalow…then I may need to review the evidence 😅

JUST BOOKED: the first high school graduation getaway of the season! 🎓🌴✨

And honestly, Planet Hollywood Adult Scene Cancun could not scream “I GRADUATED HIGH SCHOOL!” any louder. 😂 This graduate will be celebrating in a dreamy swim-out suite with an adults-only vibe, multiple pools, a lazy river, tons of restaurants and bars, and plenty of entertainment....all at a gorgeous all-inclusive resort in Costa Mujeres!!

It’s the perfect mix for this kind of celebration: relaxing when they want to, plenty happening when they don’t, endless food options, and absolutely no need to leave the resort unless they want to. Add in that swim-out suite, and this graduation trip is officially going to be one for the books!

Friendly reminder: it is NOT too early to start planning senior trips and summer getaways. Graduation season is incredibly popular, and the best resorts, room categories, and flights will go quickly.

Winter getaways are one of those things that feel far away - until suddenly the best resorts, room categories, and flight options are already disappearing.

Planning now gives us more choices, more flexibility, and plenty of time to create a trip that actually fits your travel style. Maybe that’s an adults-only all-inclusive where your biggest decision is pool or beach.
