New Medical Card Regulation
The DOT has changed the procedure for medical cards on June 23. Drivers no longer have the option to submit the new medical card directly to the state or to bring the new medical card to DMV. A paper medical card is NOT required by regulation. If the doctor does not give you a paper medical card, I would ask for some type of proof. Maybe take a picture with your phone, a receipt or something to prove that you received a new physical.
New Procedure:
1.New DOT Physical=
2.Doctor transmits new medical card to DOT within 48 hours=
3.DOT Reviews/Approves Medical Card (NO TIME FRAME) =
4.DOT Transmits New Medical Card to your States DMV Department (NO TIME FRAME) =
5.State DMV Department links New Medical Card to your CDL in 10 Days=
6.MVR must have new medical card information to continue to drive or CDL will be downgraded if not linked.
Please make sure that your name, date of birth and driver's license match your CDL license exactly on the medical card form. If it does not match, it will not link when the DOT transmits to your new medical card information
