One year ago today, I embarked on a new journey guided by my wife, Rachel Holmes, towards becoming a mobile sharpener. Initially, I had no idea what that entailed or if it was even a viable career. However, I thoroughly researched the field because I needed a change. My background was in diesel mechanics and truck driving, jobs that paid $70k a year but left little room for family life. Many people thought I was crazy to consider leaving such a stable career, but I decided to take the risk.
I owe a huge thanks to Brett Morse, who has been like an older brother, always ready to help and offer advice. He used to be my wife’s sharpener, and I apologize for taking a customer from him as my first customer. During my research, I also came across Mr. Jim O'Donnell, my mentor and friend who taught me the art of sharpening dull objects to perfection.
Thus, Lotus Sharpening Service was born, and I have no regrets about leaving my previous career. I'm now booked into July and parts of August, and I couldn’t be happier with the positive feedback from my customers. One year down, and many more to go.
