It is with heavy hearts Magnum announces the passing of our longtime friend and Director of Safety, Bob Smith. Smitty passed away early in the morning on Tuesday. Magnum would not exist today, if not for Bob's hard work and dedication in the very beginning. Smitty, among other things, was the entire operations department for our first year. When Bob left operations and became our full-time safety manager, he did it with the same commitment and dedication he did everything else. As a result, Magnum had, and continues to have, a safety and risk management program that is second-to-none. Our safety program today, in fact our company today, is built on a foundation Bob Smith help lay. He will be truly missed.

Visitation for friends and family will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 10th, at The First Baptist Church of Plainfield, located at 1012 Stafford Road in Plainfield, IN., with a service to follow. Due to heavy road construction, which is causing traffic issues around Indianapolis, the graveside service will not be held on Saturday but on Monday at the following:

This week is National Truck Driver Appreciation week and the pictured goody bag is what we presented to each of our drivers this year. In years past, we would cookout every day for the whole week so the drivers could come through and grab a bite to eat. The downside to that was not all of our drivers were able to make it to the office to enjoy the food. This year, we really wanted to knock our driver's socks off so we put together this little package for them. This week may be recognized as a time to appreciate the hard work of truck drivers across the nation but we at Magnum appreciate our drivers 365 days a year. Magnum drivers are hands down THE BEST drivers and without them Magnum would be nothing. THANK YOU to all of our local and OTR drivers. You are all amazing and we truly appreciate you!

Magnum would like to say WELL DONE to all of our OTR and Local Drivers for a fantastic week in Idle Time performance! Our professional drivers came in with a fleet idle time average of 2.0 percent for the week! The company goal is to be at or below 5 percent. EXCELLENT WORK!

A “thank you” and a big “hats off” to our Magnum Drivers. Magnum has professional drivers in our trucks and it shows in our safety ratings.
For the last several months Magnum’s CSA scores have been at an all time low. The three critical ones are: Unsafe Driving, Hours of Service, and Maintenance. This is made possible by our drivers driving safely, professionally, and obeying the federal and state regulations. Our Inspection Selection Scores, which determine random roadside inspections, is in the “pass” category because Magnum is considered a safe carrier. These numbers, along with our fantastic “on time” delivery record, enable our sales force to go out and acquire more and better freight for Magnum. Magnum could have twice the office staff that we have now, but that would not improve our scores. You, the driver, with your hard work and dedication is what makes this possible. Always remember you are the backbone of Magnum Express. Once again, thank you, for all of your hard work. You are appreciated by all of Magnum.
