We went to the Warner Robins International Festival on Saturday to celebrate and support our Polynesian roots. Middle Georgia doesn’t have a huge Pacific Islander community;outside of our military families, so being able to show my kids our heritage firsthand meant everything to us.
​The highlights were unforgettable! We got to see the amazing dancers from Mahealani’s Polynesian Entertainment (Dawn Mahealani Douglas and her team came all the way down from Atlanta!), beautiful Tahitian 'Ori Tahiti, Filipino dance, a live Mariachi band, and so much more.
​The absolute highlight for our family was meeting the dancers. For those who don't know, this traditional Samoan art form is called Siva Afi. Rooted in our historic nifo oti (warrior blade) dance, it takes incredible courage, rhythm, and high-speed precision to spin those flaming blades.
​after the Samoan dancer took the stage, he noticed us in the crowd and asked, "Hey, are you guys Samoan?"
​That instant moment of recognition and aiga (family) made our entire weekend. He is competing in Australia this week for a major fire knife competition—wishing him the absolute best of luck! 🇼🇸🔥🇦🇺
​Even though the rain caught up with us around 2:00 PM and cut the festival short, my heart is so full. Grateful for our roots, our culture, and moments like these that my kids will remember forever.

If you’ve ever been to the dolphin show at the Georgia Aquarium, you already know the splash zone is no joke! 🐬💦
​We have a membership here, so this was actually our third time seeing the show. We knew what we were getting into... but every single time that "goodbye" wave comes, it still takes everyone out! 🌊
​They give you a fair warning at the beginning of the presentation, but nothing quite prepares you for the massive wall of water that comes crashing down over the splash pad at the very end. The crowd’s reaction is always the absolute best part—half shock, half pure laughter, and 100% soaked.
​Honestly, that’s the magic of having an annual pass. Even when you’ve seen the show multiple times, the energy, the intelligence of the dolphins, and the pure chaos of getting drenched never gets old. It’s easily one of our favorite spots to take the family and just let loose.
​Pro-tip for anyone planning a visit: if you sit in those first few rows, don't just expect a gentle splash... prepare to get fully submerged! 📱❌ (Protect those phones!)
​Count us soaked, happy, and already planning our next trip back. 🎟️✨
