Did your brain absorb these rules as absolute truth, too? Because mine sure did.

Growing up in the 90s and 2000s, we didn’t just witness diet culture. We internalized it.

We had tabloid “circles of shame,” airbrushed magazines, heroin-chic beauty standards, and an entire culture that taught us our bodies were projects that always needed fixing.

We learned to fear carbs, celebrate hunger, and believe that a perfectly normal body was somehow a personal failure.

And the hardest part is some of us are still unlearning those rules decades later.
But we don’t have to keep passing them down. Sometimes breaking the cycle starts with recognizing the lies we were taught to believe in the first place.

If you’re a Millennial woman still unlearning some of this, you’re in good company 🤍
