Creating a better community through cooperation, neighborhood building and interconnecting neighborhood Greenway Safety Corridors for all. Our group has a more academic and visionary approach than some other bike and active transportation groups. Our goal is to build community throughout the region, connect up disparate parts of the public though the common goal of safe and livable streets and mak

e our rides fun!! We also though want our rides to have a purpose and make everyone THINK.....What do we need to do to bring these benefits, both tangible and intangible, to all of the residents of the "Center of Portland," as everyone deserves them regardless of income or neighborhood.

Hello All Greenway Enthusiasts! As you may or may not know, since I was at the emergency bike safety meeting last May there has been some progress at city hall. They have agreed to improve SE Clinton an have unanimously passed this greenway safety report.

I was the first up to speak at council chambers. It has a lot of good stuff in there, but it has no teeth until the recommendations are funded. We must remember though, that sometimes quantifiable data is not enough. QUALITATIVE data like topography, equity and other characteristics of the local region should also be taken into account. Please, read through their news release below and when you have some time the entire 56 page report here:

Well, this is not really an organization anymore...it is a page I manage. So, here is an article of mine published in SE Uplift!

I call for more funding, diverters on and the finishing of the Clinton-Woodward greenway, a World Class 20's, and prioritized funding of the 60's and 70's-80th greenway. Greenways for ALL!

Increasing bicycling ridership is vital to maintaining and improving our city’s livability. If we do not prioritize bicycle infrastructure investments in both connectivity and safety as we grow, we will be inundated with more traffic, more accidents, and more conflicts. The low-cost, high-benefit pr…

Living a bike oriented life requires bike oriented housing. Many cyclists do not require huge garages....and live a low impact life. We also do not need parking lots or wide street to get to our homes.

Here is an example of a bike oriented development. Think of all those undeveloped or substandard roadways across Portland where you want to save the trees and a few houses.....but can not afford to build out the roadway without building giant McMansions.

Here is an alternative model. The 30 extra residents will have a choice from living amongst a tiny house cluster...or inside a larger home. The development save the trees and existing structures, but builds around them...all with a central community bike repair facility and a central courtyard under the Lindon tree.

People and community over parking. Think about how this model could apply to YOUR neighborhood.

The city needs volunteers to count bikes at 28th and Ankeny....time to prove how many cyclists DO travel past 28th.....how many cyclists have wallets and are HUNGRY but feel that the businesses on 28th are unfriendly to them. I know I have chosen to spend my money elsewhere lately....mostly on Clinton to support those businesses....and in Montavilla since their commercial district HAS bike access on SE Stark.

Here is North Tabor Vision Zero. If every Neighborhood Association thought like this, then maybe we could more forward and become a safe and sustainable city.

Sometimes it just takes a long haul argument. There were a few individuals in our neighborhood that were reticent at first, but after a year of work.....this passed on consensus even through committee.
