I've updated on our site to say we now have over 1400 online reviews. This has probably been true for quite awhile, I just haven't bothered to recount and update until today.

Apparently, people are getting antsy. During the current two-week period we have more work scheduled than the previous two months. We have weathered the storm. We are open for business and happy to get back to work.

It is official. With this Saturday's customer postponing his move for the first time in the 17 years that August Movers has been in operation there are no jobs scheduled on our books. Not one! As a matter of fact last week one of the largest moving companies in the Portland area called me, and I assume many other businesses like mine, asking if we had any scheduled jobs that we could not fulfill.

Moving is considered an "essential" business. This means we can continue to operate but with a moratorium on evictions (which I think is a good thing) no one is currently moving because they don't have to. Crazy life. Like I said weeks ago, 2020 is the worst year of my life, as I'm sure it is for many others.

(Dec. 27, 2018) Do you know someone moving to Portland in the new year? Make sure they know about the Portland Bureau of Transportation’s (PBOT) SmartTrips program, helps Portlanders find their way around the city by walking, biking and taking transit to get where they want to go.

Entering its 15th year, SmartTrips is a PBOT program aimed at new movers with the goal of encouraging people to walk, bike or take transit either for their commute or for those shorter trips to take care of daily needs – such as a trip to the grocery store or neighborhood coffee shop. Getting more Portlanders to rethink how they use the automobile and consider the benefits of active transportation not only reduces some of the pressures on our transportation system, it can help lead to a healthier Portland as well.
