Things to keep in mind before buying a shed on marketplace.

1. What brand is it?

With so many brands out there and so many homemade sheds that are not built to be moved buying a shed that is not built to be moved can prove very costly. I have had to charge 3 or 4 times more because of the work we have to do to make them rigid enough to move.

2. Does the seller actually own the shed or are they trying to sell something they are still renting from a rental company.

We have caught several people trying to sell a building on marketplace that doesn’t belong to them. This is a very sticky situation. You pay the seller then you pay us to move it for you. The rental company sends a driver to retrieve the building and it’s gone. The rental company has to file a theft report on the renter. The rental company hires a recovery specialist who ”will find the building” the court rules for the shed to be recovered and now you don’t have a shed and are out all that money and are left to take someone to court who no longer has your money. (Like I said earlier sticky situation). Tips for avoiding this. Gather as much information as possible from seller like building brand, building serial number (usually located above the door on the interior), and name & address of seller. We require this info on most sheds.

3. Pictures, pictures, and pictures

Make sure to get good legible pictures. The more pictures you have the better information we have to get you an accurate quote.

4. Measurements

We are pretty good at what we do but measuring sheds by looking at pictures is just something we have not mastered. Measure the height (peak to bottom of skids), the width (eave to eave), the length. This is very important info as most of what we do is oversized loads and these measurements help ensure we purchase the proper transportation permits.

5. Is it on skids/runners?

With the equipment we use your shed must be on skids. Make sure and take a look under the building and see if these are present (take some pictures) Your looking for at least 2 runners they are usually 4x6, 4x4, or 2-3 2x6’s nailed together. Measure how far apart they are.

This info will help us get you an accurate quote in a timely manner and keep you out of a scam.
