My mother and the rest of the Kowalski family would like to thank all the members of Put-in-Bay Fire Department, Middle Bass Fire Department, Ottawa County Sheriffs Department, Put-in-Bay Police Department and everyone else involved in helping to extinguish the unfortunate fire we had at Saunders Sunday night. Two buildings and a couple of retired taxis were destroyed, but through the hard, competent work of all involved, there were no other losses. Most importantly, no one was injured, the two destroyed buildings were rental units and fortunately since it is the end of the season, the buildings were unoccupied. My mothers house was very close to the fire and was saved with no damage.
We appreciate all that has contacted us with their warm caring thoughts and comments. This close community of Islanders that we have been a part of for many many decades has always touched our hearts.
