New River Valley Livability Initiative The planning process will occur over three years.

The Livability Initiative is an opportunity for residents of the NRV to discuss the factors that impact quality of life – in short, what residents think would make the NRV an ideal place to live, work, and play – now and in the future. Working groups will meet to discuss nine areas: housing, transportation, energy, agriculture and food, natural resources, internet access, economic and workforce development, water resources, and cultural heritage.

The New River Valley Livability Initiative seeks to enhance the livability of the region by integrating as a rural community that honors our region's existing values while building economic competitiveness and capitalizing on the unique local characteristics and diversity of the region.
