One of the best parts of the Meadow River Rail Trail is that you can make the ride whatever you want it to be. A quick couple of miles, a ride to one of the trestles, or a full-day adventure if you’re feeling ambitious.

This little mileage guide gives you a pretty good idea of what’s ahead from Rainelle, and before long, I have a feeling everyone will have a favorite stopping point.

Save this one for your next ride, send it to the friend you’re trying to talk into coming with you, and tell us where you’re headed first.

And if 18.5 miles sounds a little ambitious, we do have e-bikes. We believe in options.

Ride beside the Meadow River. Stop at the bridge. Take the picture. Listen to the water. See how far you feel like going without worrying about how fast you get there.

Sometimes a change of scenery is all you need before heading into another week.

Want to hear a scary story?

There are things you notice from a bike that you’ll never notice from the window of a car.

The way the river changes around every bend. Old bridges and pieces of history you’ve driven past a hundred times. Wildflowers along the trail. Wildlife you didn’t expect to see. Little places where the light comes through the trees just right and you have to stop for a picture. Scary, that you could miss all of that, right?

And maybe that’s part of what makes riding the Meadow River Rail Trail so good.

You’re moving fast enough to explore, but slow enough to actually see where you are.

No windshield. No rushing to the next place. Just the river, the trail and whatever you happen to find along the way.

We had a visitor this morning. Word is getting out about the Meadow River Rail Trail. Glad to be able to get JD/Creepalachia on an e-bike and provide shuttle service on the Meadow River Rail Trail.

We are glad to see people visiting the area and enjoying the Meadow River Rail Trail.

The Meadow River Rail Trail is open from Rainelle to Nallen. Over 18 miles of scenic views. Fall is in the air, be sure to make your reservation for a bicycle rental before they fill up. We expect this Fall to be incredible on the trail.
