We love seeing Raleigh on foot -- and we’re coming to you!

Visit our Commute Smart pop up at North Hills Park Tuesday, Oct. 20, 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. as part of Walktober and the 50th anniversary of Raleigh Greenways.

Let’s make walking safer, easier, and more fun together.

Today is White Cane Day, a reminder that our sidewalks are for everyone.

When parking scooters or dockless bikes, leave at least four feet of clear space so people who are blind, low-vision, or use mobility aids can pass safely.

If you see a scooter blocking the way, report it on Ask Raleigh and move it to the side.

Let’s keep our city sidewalks accessible for all. 💛

—

“We know people love to ride scooters and our new dockless bikes. But knowing how to park them properly is very important for others’ safety, especially for people with disabilities.

People with disabilities often have difficulties getting around an improperly parked scooter or bike.

Scooters blocking the sidewalk and curb ramps are a tripping hazard for the blind and low-vision community.

Instead, riders should park their scooter or bike to the side leaving at least four feet of space for people to cross.

If you come across a scooter or bike that is parked improperly, you can report it on Ask Raleigh with a picture, then move it to the side

Remember that sidewalks are shared by everyone in the community and keeping everyone safe is important.”
