The mural is complete up at the airport!
We are beyond excited with this breathtaking piece!
In April, our board put out a nationwide call for muralists to create a piece that would bring to life the history of the Rawlins Airport and the Rawlins Flying Club. We had numerous artists apply with beautiful ideas, after the submission deadline, the Rawlins Flying Club board reviewed the submissions and selected Art by Hans Geist to bring his submission to life.
After some slight hiccups in the runway, Hans and his daughter Emma started painting at the beginning on September. This mural took them a week to complete, and each day Megan McComas, an airport board member, took a progression photo, which will be posted soon.
This mural was made possible by Discover Carbon County, WY. Without them, it would have been impossible for us to have such an important piece of art created!
We are still in awe of this incredible work and cannot thank Hans and Emma enough for making the trip here to complete it!
