Long before it became a peaceful Lake Huron destination, Oscoda was home to the legendary Wurtsmith Air Force Base. For decades, pilots, crews, and families from around the world called Oscoda home (we see you!), helping shape the heart and history of this community. ❤️

The Wurtsmith Air Museum keeps those stories alive with historic aircraft, artifacts, and memories from one of Michigan’s most important military installations.

👉 Opening for the 2026 season on Saturday, May 16th at 11:00AM. We will see YOU there!

The FAA’s new MOSAIC rule, effective October 22, 2025, expands sport pilot privileges.

🔹 Pilots will be allowed to fly aircraft with a stall speed up to 59 KCAS and up to four seats, though only one passenger is still permitted. The rule also allows retractable landing gear and controllable-pitch propellers with proper endorsements.

🔹 Night flying becomes possible for sport pilots who meet certain requirements. The rule also allows for limited commercial work, including aerial photography and pipeline patrol, representing significant new opportunities.

✅ This change allows for a broader range of aircraft, including multi engine, electric, and other advanced designs.
