Travel Inspiration Thursday!
Washington D.C. is a unique and vibrant city, full of historical significance, political importance and cultural diversity. Also, the closest large city to where I live!
Although the weather is still very hot, I find visiting D.C. (especially the museums) in mid-late August is a great time to go. Summer camps have finished, a lot of kids have started school and field trips aren’t in full swing yet. So if you can manage the heat, I find this is a less crowded time to visit overall.
Some Highlights:
Favorite Memorials - Jefferson Memorial and Lincoln Memorial
Favorite Smithsonian Museum - Natural History Museum and National Portrait Gallery
Favorite Non-Smithsonian Museum - International Spy Museum and Planet Word
Hidden Gem of D.C. - Hillwood Estate, Museum and Gardens
Favorite Eats - Zaytinya, Rose’s Luxury, Sushi Taro, Purple Patch
Favorite Hotels - Hamilton Hotel, Embassy Suites Downtown, The Mayflower
