Travel Inspiration Thursday!

Washington D.C. is a unique and vibrant city, full of historical significance, political importance and cultural diversity. Also, the closest large city to where I live!

Although the weather is still very hot, I find visiting D.C. (especially the museums) in mid-late August is a great time to go. Summer camps have finished, a lot of kids have started school and field trips aren’t in full swing yet. So if you can manage the heat, I find this is a less crowded time to visit overall.

Some Highlights:
Favorite Memorials - Jefferson Memorial and Lincoln Memorial
Favorite Smithsonian Museum - Natural History Museum and National Portrait Gallery
Favorite Non-Smithsonian Museum - International Spy Museum and Planet Word
Hidden Gem of D.C. - Hillwood Estate, Museum and Gardens
Favorite Eats - Zaytinya, Rose’s Luxury, Sushi Taro, Purple Patch
Favorite Hotels - Hamilton Hotel, Embassy Suites Downtown, The Mayflower

If you are looking for a more in depth guide with ALL the go-to spots - snag a copy of my Washington D.C. City Guide on the website. Subscribe to my newsletter so you don’t miss future Quick Guides and other travel inspiration.

The Smithsonian Air and Space Museum!
We haven’t been to this location in years. Definitely great for a more museum type experience regarding history of air and space travel.
If you like this museum don’t miss the Udvar-Hazy location near Dulles Airport which has many more planes on display, including a space shuttle!

Travel Bug By Amy can help map out your next trip to Washington D.C. And check out my city guide which is a curated collection of favorite places and restaurants. Find this and more over on the website!

Travel Inspiration Thursday!
My husband and I traveled to Bali, Indonesia for an anniversary trip. We did a lot of relaxing at the beach and pool, but also spent some time exploring as well. Bali is a mix of lush jungles, gorgeous beaches and ancient temples, and with something for everyone you can easily tailor your trip to be relaxing or action packed.

Some highlights for us:
Snorkeling at Manta Bay with impressively large manta rays
A bike tour around small villages on the island including impressive views of volcanoes and landscapes and a visit to Mason Elephant Park.

Spending a relaxing day at Crystal Island - soaking up the sun and snorkeling.

The Food - including an Indonesian feast and Luwak coffee (coffee made from beans harvested from poo of a civet cat).

Let Travel Bug By Amy plan your anniversary or special celebration get-a-away. From the exotic shores of Indonesia to places closer to home, I can tailor your trip to fit your needs. A magical escape without the stress of planning.

Verona, Italy is a city of romance and timeless beauty. It is also a delightful option in the summer, as is slightly cooler than southern cities such as Rome. Stroll through cobblestone streets, admire ancient Roman ruins and feel the Shakespearean romance at Juliet's window. The city is situated on a river, giving picturesque views and has a great food scene.

Don’t Miss:
Juliet’s House - balcony/window and love wall
Piazza delle Erbe
Arena di Verona - ancient amphitheater
Castelvecchio - castle situated on the Adige River

Verona, Italy invites you to fall in love, again and again!
Let Travel Bug By Amy plan your trip to Italy - and fall in love with all the country has to offer - especially Verona!
