As we come into the final days of our fire and life safety presentations with the Rensselaer City School District. The Community Risk Reduction Team will have given presentations to students in pre-k to 3rd grade. The team will have seen over 250 students. The knowledge of how to identify and respond to a fire or emergency at home increases the chances for better outcomes of those events.

Today, Rensselaer Professional Firefighters Local 2643 joins our brothers and sisters across the fire service in remembering the 2,977 lives lost on September 11, 2001.

We especially honor the 343 members of the FDNY who answered the call that morning and made the ultimate sacrifice. Their courage, selflessness, and commitment to others continue to define what it means to serve.

We also remember those who have lost their lives in the years since due to illnesses related to their work at Ground Zero, and we stand with the survivors, families, and first responders who continue to carry the weight of that day.

Twenty-five years later, we remember their names, their sacrifice, and the unity our nation showed in the days that followed.

Never Forget. 🇺🇸
