Eighteen riders. A perfect September day. And one beautiful final ride. 🍂🚲

We followed the winding roads of Charles City, stopped for a picnic on the grounds of Westover Church, tested our history knowledge (with prizes!), and finished where so many BASKET & BIKE rides have ended over the years — sharing a glass of w**e at Upper Shirley, with the James River stretching out before us.

The weather could not have been more beautiful, but it was the people who made the day: curious, engaged, full of laughter and good conversation, and happy simply to be riding together.

After ten years of rides, I could not have imagined a lovelier group — or a lovelier day — for this final one.

Thank you to everyone who came along for the ride on Saturday — and to the many of you who couldn't be there but sent such kind notes and good wishes my way.

You were part of the day, too.

Thanks to Cheapest Destinations and Tim Leffel. We had a great day exploring the city on this bike & b**r tour!

The capital city of Virginia has plenty to see and experience as a cyclist. I took a tour to experience Richmond VA biking with Basket and Bike.

BASKET & BIKE UPDATE: We’ve put the kickstand down for winter and will roll back out when the bluebells return! What a wonderful season of tours we've had over the past few months, including the launch of walking tours. Thank you to everyone who joined us in engaging with nature, history, and community.
