On May 19, teams from the Virginia Passenger Rail Authority (VPRA) and Virginia Railway Express (VRE) headed out to Windsor Estates and Loisdale Estates for a series of neighborhood chats.

We loved getting to chat face-to-face and answer your questions about the Franconia to Lorton Third Track Project, the Franconia-Springfield Bypass, and upcoming improvements to the Franconia-Springfield VRE Station.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by to chat, share feedback, and learn more about how these projects will help move Virginia forward!

Answer: Amtrak's Ettrick Station (also known as the Petersburg station)! Did you get it right?

Later on this year, VPRA will renovate the station to ensure it remains in a state of good repair and meets American with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards and requirements.

The Ettrick Station Improvements Project calls for:
- ADA Accessibility
- New canopy and platform
- Updated station building which included ticketing window, signage, interior and exterior, restroom access and improved wayfinding.
- Covered walkway
- Parking lot

Our outreach team recently visited the Long Bridge Project site to observe progress firsthand.

Visiting active construction zones and key infrastructure milestones allows us to connect our work directly to the communities we serve. These site visits are essential for tracking progress and ensuring our outreach, messaging, and stakeholder engagement reflect current project developments.

We’re Celebrating Transportation in Virginia by expanding passenger rail service to the New River Valley!

This project will return passenger rail service to the historic Cambria Yard, which served rail passengers from 1904 to 1979.

The Project will construct a high-level platform, canopy, parking lot, siding track, and layover facility, connecting Christiansburg to Roanoke and points north including Washington, New York, and Boston.

VPRA is Celebrating Transportation by constructing a vital rail connection between Virginia and Washington, DC!

The Long Bridge Project is a 1.8-mile rail improvement that will relieve one of the biggest rail bottlenecks on the East Coast. It includes five new rail bridges and two new pedestrian/bicycle bridges, one of which will connect Long Bridge Park and Mount Vernon Trail in Arlington to East Potomac Parks in DC.
