Well… the Bitterroot decided our all-women shuttle crew needed a little “final exam” today. 😂
One of our client’s shuttle vehicles decided it had enough before we even made it out of the Bitterroot National Forest, leaving us stranded on the side of the mountain in the rain.
Thankfully, we weren’t alone for long.
A huge THANK YOU to Bill & Cindy, who, on their 41st wedding anniversary, could have kept right on driving. Instead, they stopped and treated us exactly the way you’d hope someone’s dad or grandpa would treat their own daughters stranded on the side of the road. They jumped right in to help diagnose the problem, even shared some fuel so we could try to get the truck running again, and stayed with us far longer than they needed to.
Another huge thank you goes to Nate with Montana Mountain Buggies, who helped get the truck safely up the hill and completely off the roadway so we could wait for Wimps Body Works, Inc. to tow it down the mountain.
To the handful of other travelers who slowed down, checked on us, offered tools, ideas, or simply asked if everyone was okay—thank you. Your kindness didn’t go unnoticed.
I’m fairly certain the Bitterroot knows when Rapid River Shuttles is running an all-women crew and has decided to keep testing whether we’ve earned our place out there. 😂
Today, if someone asked me whether I’d choose the man or the bear… I’d choose the man. Because men like Bill and Nate are exactly why. They didn’t hesitate. They didn’t expect recognition. They simply saw people who needed help and stepped up without a second thought.
That’s the kind of humanity that restores your faith in people.

And Bill & Cindy… Happy 41st Anniversary! We hope the rest of your special day was much less eventful than the part you spent helping a bunch of stranded shuttle gals. ❤️
