Transportation Safety Coordinator

The Transportation Safety Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring safety programs that ensure the safe operation of transportation services. This role oversees compliance with local, state, and federal transportation safety regulations, conducts regular training and inspections, and works to reduce accidents and improve overall safety performance.

**Key Responsibilities:**

* Develop and enforce safety policies and procedures for drivers and transportation staff.
* Conduct regular safety audits, vehicle inspections, and facility assessments.
* Investigate transportation-related accidents or incidents and recommend corrective actions.
* Coordinate and deliver safety training, including defensive driving, DOT compliance, and emergency response procedures.
* Ensure compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT), OSHA, and other regulatory bodies.
* Maintain records related to driver certifications, accident reports, and safety meetings.
* Analyze trends in safety data to identify risks and opportunities for improvement.
* Serve as a liaison with insurance companies, regulatory agencies, and law enforcement during investigations or audits.
* Promote a culture of safety through ongoing education, communication, and enforcement of company policies.

**Qualifications:**

* High school diploma or GED required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree in safety, transportation, or related field preferred.
* Minimum 2-5 years of experience in transportation safety or logistics.
* Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, FMCSA, OSHA, and other safety standards.
* Excellent communication, training, and organizational skills.
* Proficient in incident reporting and safety tracking software.
* Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred (if applicable to the role).
* Ability to work flexible hours and travel as needed.
