Flabob Airport Education through Aviation! Welcome to the Flabob Airport page! This airport is “Taking Aviation to new heights!”
(325)

Flabob is an airport rooted in deep tradition of good old fashion Aviation Enthusiasts looking to share their love of the sport to others. In 1998, Tom Wathen created a non-profit foundation to encourage the study of science, math, technology and civic responsibility. “His dream was to use aviation education as a springboard of instruction and to nurture an appreciation for the tradition and futur

e of general aviation.” The Foundation took on the catch phrase, “Education through Aviation!” In 2000, the Thomas Wathen Foundation purchased the 82-acre airport, saving it at the 11th hour from commercial real estate developers. Flabob Airport is not only used as an airport, but is used to build character in young adults.

DC-3 Society Fly-In Update!

Spring is here—and momentum is building for something truly special.

Planning is in full swing for the inaugural DC-3 Society Operators Conference & Showcase which will be held at Flabob Airport in Riverside, CA, a first-of-its-kind gathering designed to bring together the people who keep this legendary aircraft flying—and its story alive.

As shared by our media partners early March at Vintage Aviation News, this event is envisioned as far more than a traditional fly-in. It will unite owners, operators, crews, historians, and enthusiasts for a dynamic, hands-on experience centered around:

*Showcasing aircraft and operations
*Sharing knowledge, stories, and best practices
*Celebrating the legacy—and future—of the Douglas DC-3

This is about building a living, annual tradition rooted in community, collaboration, and a shared passion for one of aviation’s most iconic aircraft. (Vintage Aviation News)

We’re excited to share that new dates have officially been set, with full event details and registration information set to be released in May.

And in true DC-3 Society spirit—this event is being built by the community, for the community!
