Established in 1975, ENC, a subsidiary of REV Group, Inc. (REV), manufactures low floor and standard floor buses for public transit/paratransit, airport, parking and university transportation markets. EN-CA-manufacturing-plant With thousands of floorplan configurations and optional features to choose

from, ENC can accommodate nearly any design or fuel system request. Each model has successfully completed FTA/Altoona durability testing and all low floor models have passed third-party side impact crash and roof crush performance testing. All models have passed a comprehensive battery of crash tests to comply with applicable FMVSS, CMVSS, DOT, EPA, ADA and NHTSA requirements for ensuring safe and reliable service in every operating environment. ENC utilizes computer aided design (CAD) systems and the latest generation Algor Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Autodesk Inventor 3-D modeling software to engineer medium- and heavy-duty bus designs for assembly at its 227,000 square foot, ISO 9001 certified production facility located on 17 acres in Riverside, California. The company recently completed a lean manufacturing initiative to optimize efficiency for all product design and manufacturing processes, including body structure fabrication, exterior corrosion protection and painting, materials procurement and supply, quality assurance/quality control and employee workplace and safety training. ENC provides exceptional parts and technical service support to ensure the very highest product quality standards. A nation-wide network of factory-authorized distributors offer superior sales, warranty and after-market customer care services, including comprehensive mechanical breakdown repair and rapid parts replacement.

Next week, James Smith and the ENC team with be at this year's Florida Triple Crown Roadeo co-sponsored by the Florida Public Transportation Association and the Florida Department of Transportation, and hosted by LYNX in sunny Orlando, Florida. We're excited to watch Florida's finest operators and maintenance techs display their skills, while engaging with the Sunshine State's agencies on how ENC can support their heavy-duty bus, aftermarket parts, and vehicle service needs.

Buses are best viewed up close and personal.

Whether we’re out in the field or hosting visitors in our facility, nothing is more powerful than giving customers and partners the opportunity to experience an ENC bus firsthand. Digital tools—webinars, websites, video walk-throughs—absolutely have their place, but they can only go so far. The real impact happens when customers can step onto the bus, open the hatches, study the craftsmanship up close, and ask our engineers and technicians the tough “why” questions that matter most. When customers can literally and figuratively kick the tires, they immediately understand what sets ENC apart.

We welcome every one of these moments.

As California transit agencies continue to execute on long-term fleet roadmaps that call for a transition to zero-emission buses, ENC is proud to present our 100% battery-electric, truly emissions-free vehicle. Stainless Steel is not simply Stainless Steel

Stainless steel is a broad descriptor covering austenitic, ferritic, martensitic, ferritic-austenitic (Duplex) and precipitation-hardened stainless steels. Each type has its own unique microstructure, mechanical properties, and ideal applications. The point being that not all Stainless Steel is created equal.

ENC uses a non-ferritic (austenitic) 304-grade stainless steel alloy for the frames of our AXESS® heavy-duty transit bus platform. Offering a high level of toughness, the material responds well to forming and weldability, which underpins our monocoque frame design. Hand welding the frame, as opposed to joining sections of the frame together with fasteners or bolts, creates a more cohesive structure that lends advantages to improved safety, better ride quality, and reduced maintenance-related costs.

Achieving 400 days without a lost-time incident in an active manufacturing environment is a great achievement, but it doesn't just happen. It comes from developing a culture rooted in holding ourselves and each other accountable for doing the right thing the first time. Every day is a milestone.

Yes, we have a comprehensive training program
Yes, we have all the needed PPE
Yes, we have a reinforcement structure

But amidst, or maybe despite, all the structure and process, working safely is a choice. A personal choice that not only puts us all in the position to go home intact at the end of the day, but also allows us to focus on what we love to do: build high-quality transit buses that our customers, and their riders, can depend on every day.

Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance.

Yes, this is typically a sports aphorism, but it rings no less true in a manufacturing environment. Being successful in any endeavor is rooted in understanding how to achieve the goal in the most effective, safe, and replicable manner. Positioning our production team members for success begins well before they pick up their first tool, strap into a forklift, or put on elements of PPE.

It starts with training. Safety training, ergonomics training, material handling training…the list goes on. All of the knowledge that will keep individuals, and the broader team, aligned on what matters most: building high-quality transit buses in an environment that is safe, productive, and collaborative.

Getting back to what we do best.

This week, the ENC team proudly celebrated an exciting milestone: the completion of the first of 25 hand‑welded bus frames for the initial customer order since restarting production. The outcome of many months of preparation and design, facility upgrades, planning, and team training, this achievement represents progress in ENC’s continued journey to present public transit agencies and private transportation companies with a revitalized option for safe, reliable, American made buses.

It required much effort to get to this point, and there is still a lot of work to do. But there are few things quite like being able to say, “we did that…together”.
