Today's freight and fuel snapshot.

Some familiar names showing up again on the hot market list, with strong dry van and flatbed activity in several parts of the country. I also included the latest fuel information since that's something that affects everyone in this industry.

Thought I'd share for anyone else who likes keeping an eye on the market.

Chameleon carriers shouldn't be allowed to slip through the cracks.

A "chameleon carrier" is a trucking company that shuts down after accumulating serious safety violations or enforcement actions, then reappears under a new name and DOT number. In many cases, the trucks, drivers, ownership, and operations remain largely the same while the company presents itself as a new carrier.

Studies have found these carriers are significantly more likely to be involved in serious crashes, creating unnecessary risks for both the motoring public and the thousands of responsible carriers that operate safely every day.

The proposed SAFE Act would give FMCSA additional tools to identify these actors during the registration process and help prevent them from repeatedly avoiding accountability.

The trucking industry is filled with hardworking carriers and owner-operators who invest in safety and do things the right way. Those companies deserve a level playing field, and everyone sharing the road deserves safer highways.

A day late, but some people deserve more than just one day.

Happy Father's Day to my dad and to all the fathers who pour their hearts into providing for their families and building something that will outlive them.

In 2000, my dad started Agency SL2 from the basement of our home with nothing more than a dream, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to taking care of people.

Twenty-six years later, I'm still amazed by the relationships he's built and the reputation he's earned. Customers, carriers, and friends have become part of our extended family, and that didn't happen by accident. It happened because of the way he has always treated people.

Growing up, I had a front-row seat to the sacrifices, the long hours, and the determination that it took to build this business. More importantly, I got to watch what integrity, loyalty, and kindness look like in action.

I'm incredibly grateful for the example he has set and for the legacy he built.

Happy Father's Day, Dad. ❤️

And to all the dads out there, thank you for everything you do, much of which the world never sees.

Most people see a truck.

We see permits, crane schedules, specialized equipment, timing, and dozens of moving parts that all have to come together.

We coordinated the crane services and double-drop transportation for three overweight vessels weighing 80,000 lbs each. Three successful moves in one day.

Supply chains are ecosystems, not isolated events.

That's one of the reasons I've always found logistics so fascinating.

Manufacturing activity, inventory levels, fuel prices, trade policy, truck capacity, and geopolitical events all influence one another. A shift in one area can create ripple effects throughout the entire supply chain.

That's what makes the current market so interesting.

We're seeing stronger manufacturing activity, ongoing geopolitical uncertainty, and shifting trade dynamics all at the same time. None of these factors exist in a vacuum, and their impact isn't always immediate or obvious.

Periods like this are a good reminder that supply chain resilience isn't built during disruptions. It's built before them.

The companies that navigate uncertainty best aren't necessarily the ones trying to predict every headline. They're the ones with strong relationships, contingency plans, and the flexibility to adapt when conditions change.

The second half of 2026 may favor organizations that have invested in flexibility and contingency planning.
