Village of Riverwoods Incorp. in 1959 from property originally part of the Ryerson Estate, Riverwoods carries on The Ryerson's tradition of living in harmony with the enviroment.

Riverwoods is a unique community in the Chicago North Shore area that was originally conceived to allow residents to live among the trees. Incorporated in 1959 from property originally part of the Ryerson Estate, Riverwoods carries on Edward Ryerson's tradition of living in harmony with the environment. Situated on the banks of the Des Plaines River, Riverwoods has easy access to the transportation, retail and business amenities of the North Shore but provides a quiet and natural respite from traditional suburban living. Many properties within the village are large heavily wooded lots accessible from private roads where some residents are able to house horses. We are a small community of about 3500 residents and share public services with neighboring villages such as Deerfield, Lincolnshire, Bannockburn and Northbrook. The village is managed by a Mayor and a Board of Trustees. The village also has it own Police Department to service the community.

Riverwoods Employee Spotlight | Jamese Scott

Jamese joined the Finance Department in December 2026. As the Accounting Manager, she plays an important behind-the-scenes role in keeping the Village’s financial operations running smoothly. Her responsibilities include managing General Ledger activity, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and coordinating preparations for the Village’s annual audit.

She brings nine years of municipal accounting experience, most of which was with the City of Lake Forest, where she was part of a team that received the Government Finance Officers Association's (GFOA) Triple Crown Award for four consecutive years. She is also a member of the GFOA.

Jamese holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and a Master's Degree in Business Administration. Her experience in governmental accounting, financial reporting, and account reconciliation, combined with her analytical approach and attention to detail, helps her identify discrepancies and maintain the accuracy and integrity of the Village’s financial records, supporting clear and transparent financial reporting.

Although much of her work happens behind the scenes, Jamese plays an important role in supporting the Village and serving the Riverwoods community. Providing accurate and transparent financial information, assisting residents and businesses with account-related matters, and making helpful financial information available are all part of her commitment to service.

Jamese describes Riverwoods as a unique municipality that she has come to love. Her favorite aspect is working within a close-knit community where her work has a direct impact.

When not working with numbers, she enjoys writing and listening to audiobooks.
