The Shroomies are a collective of regular anthros that have been altered and shifted to resemble a more "fungal" counterpart to their regular selves.
Physiology:
Shroomies have some resemblance to their regular, anthro counterparts. However, they have some key physical features.
-They have a large mushroom cap on their head.
-Their bodies are slightly more pudgy and slightly softer.
-They have no nostrils.
-Their eyes have a black sclera, with a more vibrant version of the colour of their irises.
-They are bio-luminescent, and can glow at will.
-They have freckles all over, resembling a spotted mushroom.
-Their regenerative properties are enhanced, able to heal at a much faster rate, especially the cap.
-They are completely hairless/furless.
-Their extremities end with reduced digits.
-The extra details, like wings, fins, etc. are more fungal in comparison to their former, regular counterparts. For example, the tail fins of an orca would now resemble the mushrooms that grow on the side of trees. They are all still fully functional.
Diet and Feeding Process:
Becoming a shroomie doesn't necessarily change your diet. In fact, you can eat whatever you'd like! However, the downside to that is you will not gain nearly as many nutrients and calories in comparison to your former self. To combat this, you can now absorb nutrients from the ground!
First, you find some fertile soil, and you dig your feet inside. After about a few seconds of waiting, you'll feel your legs fusing together to form a stem. Meanwhile, your feet extend into a network of mycelium, spreading themselves deep into the ground. It is best to have something to do on the spot, because you'll be standing there for a little while, about 30 minutes to a couple of hours or so. When you are fed, or you need to go do something, you will feel your legs begin to revert back to normal, splitting into two. Just shake off some of the dirt and you're good to go!
P.S., an added benefit is that we don't have to use the washroom no more!
Transformation:
No matter how you came to this situation, it begins as follows. It first begins at your head, quickly beginning to sprout your very own cap, abeit still underdeveloped at this stage. Your face begins to shift, becoming more pudgy and squishy, losing your nostrils. It then spreads down your chest and arms, your fingers fusing to form three, large digits, while your extra details go on a more fungal appearance. Meanwhile, your insides convert to be made out of the same, fungal material, no longer posessing any form of blood or typical anthro bodily fluids. Continuing, your toes fuse to form two, large toes. Finally, your beautiful cap fully develops, sprouting confidently on your head, confidently taking residence!
Means of Transformation:
This can happen in one of two ways.
1: You inhale a significant amount of transformative spores from a nearby shroomie who happened to expell a bunch. Unfortunately, it is a temporary effect, where the duration of said form lasts in proportion to the amount of spores you have inhaled. This could range from a few hours to a few months.
2: A slightly more permanent solution is to locate a mushroom pendant, afflicted with a glow around the string. Putting it on over your head will result in the victim changing to a shroomie. The only way to reverse said transformation is to simply do the opposite: lifting it off. However, you may have realized that it is way easier said than done, as you would have a large mushroom on your head by the time you realize what was going on. Also, don't bother trying to cut the string, that glow is a sign that it is cursed with unbreaking.
